Dumb reply. Football (not soccer) is not global. Most of the world doesn't understand NFL football. But T&F is global, known by most & offered by most U.S. HS's & Colleges, to go with pro contracts. That all said:

Why do you have such low expectations for Jager? He finished top-5 in the world finals and everyone who finished ahead of him is certainly capable of running 13:02.
As for Rupp, he was actually a factor in the race, as opposed to just being along for the ride, so you have to use some intuition beyond just looking at the times.

Of course there is talent in East Africa unlike anywhere else. But you talk about a "head start" as if Rupp, Mottram, Webb and Ryun didn't have the sort of talent we see coming out of East Africa and had to play catch up.
