Drafting is also less advantageous if you're a foot taller than anyone else. People who know nothing about running assume the opposite (longer legs means fewer strides, therefore it's easier, right?).
As others have said, tall people usually don't live to a very old age. I have naturally low blood pressure, and a low heart rate, so I get head rushes if I get up too fast (common with tall people). I've blacked out and fallen twice in my life from this.
Good things: I could dunk in 8th grade. I could ride rollercoasters, etc., before others. You can be a hero sometimes and reach something for a stranger. Stereotypically, women like tall guys. I am easy to pick out of a crowd, and I can see over the top of the crowd. (Downside is I feel guilty for blocking others' views.)

A lot of the same things I stated, several pages ago, also backed up by this guy. Being too tall isn't always an advantage in everyday life.

Being a world class powerlifter/strong man, 6'7 is much better.
If the comparison height is 6-7 I think my point of indifference level would be 5’ 5.5”. Shorter than that and you are now going to be shorter than the average height woman when they are wearing shoes which typically have heels. That would suck more than being 6-7.

There are many, many millions of cute, short girls out there too. Petite women are beautiful. I'm 5'7 and have always been happy with girlfriends, who have ranged from 5'1 to 5'7 or so. That's literally over 2/3 of the female population.
I agree most often girls won't be as comfortable with a guy shorter than they are (though there are many exceptions), but they wouldn't necessarily be comfortable with a guy a foot and a half taller either. A 6'7 guy on top of a 5'0 girl doesn't necessarily feel right for her, either. You're not winning or losing someone just based on your height, that's ridiculous.
While 6'1-6'2 may give you maximum "range", at the end of the day if you think you are limited at 5'7 that is insanely stupid, with approx. 80% of women shorter than you. How many women can one man want!
5'7 here and have been happy that way. I was too concerned in my late teens (I was 5'7 at 13 yo) but looking back I wouldn't trade it for anything, this is how I am and surprisingly it gives you strength from within. You can be discrete when you want. Relevant when you want. You have a choice.
My significant other is 5'2, we fit together everywhere, and the only problem we ever face is trying to reach out for stuff on top shelves!
I find being a skinny runner to be MUCH MORE challenging than height, from a social acceptance standpoint. Scrawny is rarely sexy, and clothes didn't look right at 5'7 130lb (my marathon shape). My SO didn't like it either, and I am sure that has happened to many who lost weight for the purpose of getting faster. Normal weight 150lbs is easy though, and so is a "fit" 140-145.
If anyone who's reading feels bad about being short, stop that bs right now and don't let anyone tell you that you should be anything different! Everyone has all the means to be happy from under 5 ft to over 7ft. Doesn't matter. Great thread, though.

Dude Im 6’7 maybe 6’8 in shoes, ive stood next to Lebron multiple times he’s a solid 2-3 inches taller than me. NBA players all lie about their height, the only players really measured are the people fresh into the league, so the heights of all the dudes like lebron who came into the league at 18 and their heights have changed they have no record of that so the players literally choose their height. KD says he’s 6’9 he’s really closer to 7 foot. Being tall is fuckin awesome I’ve been able to dunk since I was in 8th grade, you get more respect, people listen to you. There’s literally nothing bad about being tall as long as you maintain a healthy life style and that just goes for anyone, but also there’s NOTHING wrong with being 5’7. Your height has absolutely no indication of what you can accomplish, It's not about the size of the dog in the fight, it's about the size of the fight in the dog.
5'7" is within average range, just on the shorter side. Calling it "short" isn't really the right word for it, statistically speaking.
"5'7" is dwarf" Its within 1 standard deviation of the average height. Therefore, it is on the shorter side of the average, but it isnt short.
Tom Cruise is 5'7" and seems to do ok.
Messi is only 5'6" and is one of the best soccer players in the world.
I'm only 2 or 3 inches taller than 5'7, so I would pick that. 5'7 isn't very short. At 6'7 you are more at risk for back and joint problems and there will be issues in some workplaces (like restaurant kitchens) from an ergonomic standpoint. I don't believe being 6'7 would make it any easier to pick up girls either.

I'm a 5'3" female, so 5'7" would already be taller than I would ever prefer. 6'7" would drastically thin my dating pool. 5'7" it is. Though I would prefer to be 4 inches shorter (4'11") than 4 inches taller.
