As far as Crimson goes, McDonald was long gone by the time Lark's Tongues in Aspic and Red came out. Then, of course, one needs to consider the albums Discipline and Beat. Besides, Fripp's done a lot more than just play. Look what he's done with Guitar Craft and DGM.
