Do we get another post about Tsegay "running like an idiot" to a 30m win?
Yes. Because clearly her goal in these races is to break the world record. And you don't do that by running a 57-second second lap. She's entertaining as hell but she does not pace herself correctly.
Feel like a good over/under here for Chebet is 3:55flat. Definitely expecting the under, something like a 3:53high-3:54low? Earlier this year I thought 3:55-56was her ceiling, but revising it down…
3:54.73 running smart. Nice run
I think most people on this board are pretty disappointed by Chebet's run. She's no Hassan it seens, at least not today. Tsegay shows what she can do if she sort of controls herself over the first 800. Was hoping for a little more from Hiltz. She's still just outside a favorite for a medal next month with no signs that's yet changed.

3:54 with that range is awesome and should be celebrated, but unfair to compare to Hassan who is probably the range GOAT

Surely she can run 3:49+ with better pacing or closer to the WR.
This is what I just do not understand. I don’t get what the strategy and logic of her and her team are here.
We’ve seen this massive reset in distance running - especially on the women’s side, and all of it comes back to even paced/negative split running. When Kipyegon ran the WR she was 2.03 at 800m and ran a sub 44 final 300. How does Tsegay look at that and think, I’m going to go through 3-4 seconds faster and reach my full potential.
Honestly she could have challenged the WR today with smarter execution. Does she not trust her speed in the final 300m?

She just thinks that one day she'll outrun the lactic acid and break through and it will be glorious. I used to find her frustrating and now I've come to sort of admire her moxy. Have you asked her why she keeps at it like this? She must feel she's a 3:45 runner in her heart.

That clearly isn't her ceiling. She had no pacing and just ran to out kick Bell and the second group once she realized Tsegay was too far ahead. She is absolutely capable of low 3:50s or better if she focused on the event.
1500 is not chebet's usual distance. She practically lacks experience in the 1500 because she has run like three 1500m races all in Kenya where altitude may not show her actual times. It wouldn't have made sense to go with Tsegay's 1.59.. 800m pace knowing she doesn't have any experience in the 1500

People were talking wr, and certainly sub 3:51. She was dusted by Tsegay, so no, a disappointing run imo.
