I mean, you can only make your professional debut once. Tuohy made hers in 2024.
Why folks struggle with this, I’m not sure
2025 Professional debut.
Note the year. I might even say the same thing next year, referencing 2026. Who knows?
Why use the word "professional" though if it wasn't her professional debut? "2025 debut" makes sense but "2025 professional debut" doesn't really unless Tuohy sometimes runs as a professional and sometimes as an amateur.
Wiley and Valby have both accomplished FAR more in less time. Track fans are already anticipating the return of America's young Queens next weekend at New Balance.
Yours is one of biggest "creeper" posts I have ever seen here.
How is stating facts and opinions “creepy”?
they called them "america's young queens"... they're not normal
I don't understand my professional runners are hurt so often.
Tom Brady and LeBron James played or play much more dangerous sports and managed to stay healthy.
Lots of down votes but no answers to a legitimate question. Football and basketball are extremely physical yet these 2 are playing into their 40s without missing many games let alone full seasons.
Who runs PRs in the middle of January? And at the elite level why would you want to?
Traditionally, Tuohy does. Six of her nine best lifetime performances were in the winter on indoor tracks.
2 in December, 2 in January, 2 in February, 2 in May, 1 in July
Moving the goalposts does not make this a great race. Tuohy was attending classes full time, studying, living the busy life of a college student in 2023. She now has no responsibilities except to train as a pro. She has more time to train, sleep, and do all of the little things that pros have time to do. She also spent considerable time at altitude last year, something she had never done before.
Bottom line is, Tuohy January 2025 has every advantage possible over Tuohy January 2023 and yet she ran slower on a newly resurfaced track that is allegedly faster (some people love to play the "Valby's time doesn't count - she ran at BU" card - it works both ways). Her time was a step up from 2024 when she times that would have gotten her crushed by numerous college runners, but it is by no means impressive. It was not a good sign, especially considering her history of her best performances being in winter.
Nielsen is impressive. Keep in mind though, that even though she is only a Jr, she is a year older than Tuohy... a lot of foreign athletes in the NCAA are older collegians.
Plus Nielsen is an international, and has already represented her country. A 2-flat 800m runner, but she’s clearly better than that now anyway.
Wilma's last name was spelled Neilsen on the bib. Where did this Sander guy get his degree from?
Feel free to re-format it. Instead of just complaining. You’re more than welcome to. Thanks for pointing out flaws.
I always format it in my own posts. I'd rather you post nothing at all than 100 lines with 90% of them worthless (or in your case, 99%, since only the lines 10th, Kate Grace, and 4:20.70 mattered to what you were saying), and it makes scrolling through a thread much more difficult. You're not the only offender, it's super common, I just happened to decide after reading yours that every time in the future that I see it, I'm going to ask people to do better. Literally it takes almost no effort to do, and me reformatting your post won't get rid of the absolute trash that you already posted.
Something my dad taught me when I was like 10 was that it's better to be concise with the minimal amount of information to get your point across, than to include tons of superfluous information, because people's eyes will just glaze over and they won't read it. Just trying to pass that wisdom on <3
Several of the runners who started on the outside lane were stepping all over the yellow line, equivalent to stepping on the rail if you’d started on the inside lane. Isn’t that grounds for DQ?

the difference is that in January 2023, she should have been in top TOP racing shape due to coming off of incredible cross country fitness. so she dropped the cross training, probably rested very briefly and then went into 6 weeks of sharpening for the dr sander and millrose.
