Little story....

Was at a huge yardsale old lady had tons of music, a buck a CD and she must have had a 1000. So I get what I want a bunch of old country, so while standing in line I notice this lady ahead of me was holding three Bob Wills CD's, I had to have them. So it was .... excuse me give ya 5 bucks a piece for those (pointing) she was all smiles as she handed them to me in one hand grabbed the 15 in the other. Yep, selling something she really didn't own.

I must have posted this before, but, my mood right now.

Big Joe Williams is the daddy of this it's from 1941 then there was a cover by Tony Hollins shorty after, but it's that John Lee Hooker version in 1948 that most people think about. The Doors do a great job on this classic also.

Love this and while she is more R&B/Soul than blues she can sing them blues.

I saw Etta James live at an outdoor festival maybe 20 years back, shortly after she lost over 100 pounds following gastric bypass surgery, not too long before she passed. That might be around the same year I saw Link Wray and JJ Cale.

honestly, I'm a classic rock guy and was thinking of all kinds of great covers but I can't think of anyone who took a song and made it her own as much as Sinead. One of the great recordings ever.
If I had to go classic rock, I'd do 'Twist and Shout' by los Beatles. Probably the greatest rock and roll recording ever. The story of the session is great - they were all exhausted, done with a long studio session and someone talked them into one more. They trudged back into the studio, john's voice was hoarse from the long day...plugged in...and there it is. All the energy, rebellion and ' I DO GIVE A SH'T!' of early rock and roll.
