You can be a moron and get any degree out there. Just because the material may have been presented along the way doesn't mean it was understood or retained.
Anyone who claims that being in ketosis has no benefit over regular dieting doesn't understand how ketosis works.

The rapid early weight loss from water alone provides a psychological benefit over regular diets.
People are more likely to stick with a diet if they think it's working.

people are more likely to stick with a diet when it allows them flexibility and the ability to eat foods they enjoy. a keto diet offers none of that and is not sustainable unless you're just in the cult of keto, like yourself.
if you knew anything about keto or dieting, you would know that.
Late 50's/b.m.i., upper 23's to low 24's with good to great cholesterol numbers. Numbers have not always been good to great. Steps taken:
1) Run or swim or walk;
2) Free-hand exercises;
3) Rarely eat desserts;
4) I eat meat but I eat plenty of fruits & vegetables;
5) I cut way back on alcohol.
Low b.m.i., exercise and good diet alone will not keep cholesterol numbers low if you are consuming moderate or more than moderate amount of alcohol past age 40. If you drink 10 or more alcohol beverages per week, that is too much.

For the majority of obese Americans who are insulin resistant keto will be more effective than traditional dieting because it regulates blood sugar.
You represent a medical industry that has overseen the population get fatter than it has ever been in human history and people have a 95%+ failure rate on diets under your watch.
A more intelligent person would wonder if maybe the advice they were giving was doing more harm than good.

regulation of blood sugar does not make a diet more or less effective. its why i could eat a diet of pure sugar and lose weight if i reduce my calories appropriately. if you knew anything you would know that. also do you think the medical industry is hand feeding obese people? a more intelligent person would know patients barely follow our advice. just look at you.
As one who tutored pre meds in undergrad biology and was in relationships with two doctors, I can assure you that MDs tend towards mastery of superficial knowledge and rote memorization. That is the whole point of the current med school process. Innovation, critical thinking and context are seriously neglected or discouraged.
As someone who tutored and subsequently was in a relationship with XY, I can assure you that XY is a certified ketonutcase.
If that were the case, you would know that as a "nutcase", I am in ketosis maybe a few times a week. I also vary my run training pace and distance throughout the week, keeping things in superb balance. Amazing how a properly nourished and optimized body and mind can work.
A nutcase is someone who is incapable of adapting or learning, who just keeps plowing along the same tired old ideology while they get fatter, weaker, more tired and sicker "...because The Soyence Says...."

You talk like varying training pace and distance is an accomplishment. What exactly have you accomplished with your amazing body and mind? Has your mind contributed anything to the world that stands heads and shoulders above the average middle aged man? For example, do you have any experience doing any research at even the grad student level?
Stop telling everyone like you like to do how what they are eating is carcinogenic poison. People are living just fine eating plant foods. Your personal experience is not universally applicable.

Your ignorance is showing.
The hormonal response triggered by blood sugar levels has everything to do with how effective a diet is. If a person's hormones tell them their starving they will require much more effort to stay on plan than a person who's hormones are telling them they aren't hungry.
If you ate a diet of pure sugar you would eventually develop insulin resistance and find it harder and harder to "reduce your calories appropriately".
There's more to obesity epidemic in America than people just being stupid and lazy as you "doctors" continue to suggest.
You've demonstrated repeatedly that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
