This cat here is consdered to be the first "country blues' artist to record, he played the banjo on a track with Clara Smith (thinking it was her) this was in 1923 he was from Kentucky
It goes like this...
Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith.....there is a debate there, but no debat that Memphis Minnie in that upper ecelon of female blues artists, Without question the first grat female guitarist, shevwas on par with anyone, Bonnie Raitt a big fan.
