There is some randomness in athlete selection, see those who are tested once per year. It makes sense to spend your resources chasing likely dopers especially given how difficult doping and micro dosing is to detect (Lance Armstrong never testing positive in spite of being targeted).

OK- I’ll agree that the top athletes should be tested more often. That makes sense. But it STILL should have randomness to it. Take the top 20 in the world and pull out 2 names each week and test them within 24 hours.

Without randomness it’s ripe for corruption. I want to be the guy that chooses who, when, and where athletes in Russia are tested…..

She is speaking about the past mentioning how that bf is no longer her current bf. It seems weird to split hairs on the wording here but this whole situation is a ridiculous mess. The attack on male pigs has gotten out of control.

Regardless of whether folks believe what he said, the overall interview Centro gave was excellent. It had authenticity and verbosity. He was respectful to the press but not obsequious, and with occasional defiance provided the journos a great deal of usable material. I don't mind people being suspicious of him or SH. But to vilify them with total certainty of their guilt is not warranted by the circumstances. Yes, we all know by now of the "strict liability" quasi-legal standard, but as a human being and American, it makes me very uncomfortable to condemn her as a cheat if there exists a reasonable doubt about her guilt. New things that we learned or had confirmed: - SH often went to the truck and usually ordered carne asada. - SH often went to the truck with Centro. (There must be receipts.) - Centro (who was with her that morning at his place) got tested at the same time and his sample was not flagged as positive. - He doesn't say it unequivocally, but it sounded like he didn't order from the truck that night since he had dinner with another teammate. -She was with at least one other friend watching The Bachelorette. Allow me to correct some oft-repeated statements that are false.

Pork that contains nandrolone is not "contaminated". Nandrolone is produced naturally in a normal male pig. It occasionally has a poor smell, but such pork is legal and there is nothing unhealthy about eating it. Chorizo and other sausages, which may contain offal (liver, etc.), is a food that I suspect you have eaten on many occasions and thought was delicious.

It's not unlikely at all. The food truck, like nearly all authentic Mexican restaurants, serves chorizo sausage burritos and another pork offal dish. Chorizo could well have been prepared at a local pork farm and, because of the spices, is well suited for male pig (boar) meat in case there is any taint smell. Such pork could be purchased very easily and inexpensively by the purchaser for the food truck company. In fact, a local pork supplier to Beaverton sells Chorizo:

There is nothing disgusting or unusual about a pork sausage burrito, and a level of 5 ng/ml is a very low amount. The theory is extremely plausible because she ate from the food truck literally 10 hours before the test.

1-2. No one except "Garage Heavy" Dane Miller suggested that farmers were feeding pigs steroids. I hereby bet Dane $10,000 that nandrolone is naturally produced by normal male pigs, and is not, as he suggested in his video, the result of pig farmers dosing their pigs with steroids. As you said, it is illegal to give pigs steroids in the US.

3. There is no need to make up a story that the tainted meat would have had to have been imported. There are (surprise!) male pigs all over the United States, and many of them have not been castrated.

4. Pig offal doesn't get thrown away; every part gets used. If you have ever eaten high-quality sausage, you have literally eaten the intestine through which the pig's poop passed through, as well as liver, and other meat byproducts. I'm sorry no one ever told you how sausage is made.

The FDA has permitted steroids to be given to beef and sheep, not pork. No one from Shelby's camp is suggesting that the steroids were synthetic and fed to the animal she happened to eat.

Centro literally said "Bachelorette" so why are you saying this? It aired on Dec. 14th.

Nearly every authentic Mexican restaurant is going to offer some kind of pork offal dish, mostly likely chorizo sausage. How many restaurants in America serve sausage? You know the saying, "no one wants to know how the sausage gets made." Well, that's a problem in this case.

1. The number that Greene said was 2% of the pig meat supply, which I believe is an underestimation. Keep in mind, it is not just pork offal which contains nandrolone, but male pig meat as well. A recent study of 12 wild boar meat eaters in Germany found that, even though their meals were not offal per se and contained female wild boar meat as well as male boar meat, about half tested positive for traces of nandrolone. (Hülsemann, "Excretion of 19-norandrosterone after consumption of boar meat", 2020).

2. The 300g number comes from one study of 3 male volunteers who ate pork meat and offal (Bizec, "Consequence of boar edible tissue consumption on urinary profiles of nandrolone metabolites", 2000). Houlihan weight is very likely much less than those volunteers, and the amount of nandrolone can vary greatly depending on the pig, and depending on the parts ingested. The 10-hour time window after sleeping would be optimal for maximizing the detected amount. Coincidence? Or just the statistical certainty of eventually having an athlete who was tested 16 times in 2020 to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?

3. She was with a friend watching "The Bachelorette" and they were eating burritos. No one in that situation is going to walk back to the truck and try to replace their half-eaten burrito.

4. There are apparently transaction receipts and GPS time stamps which show her going to the truck at that specific time. The only alternative explanation is that she deliberately took oral nandrolone at the same time so she would have an excuse in case she tested positive. But that makes no sense because her hair sample tested negative (which can show repeated use of nandrolone over a period of months), and no one would ever take oral nandrolone a single time. There would be no benefit to doing so. And if that was the plan, why not have better proof? Why didn't she decide to get a pork burrito that night? She could've said, like all of you, "but I didn't know what was in chorizo!"

5. It sounded to me like Centro didn't get Mexican that night. Maybe it was Centro who usually ordered the burrito, and this time there was some small confusion? Just speculating. If Houlihan was taking oral nandrolone, don't you think Centro would have taken it at the same time? Although it would have been convenient to test them both at the same residence, it does not seem right for them to have been targeted by WADA for testing at the same time. Clearly, WADA has had them in their sights, and the lack of a random testing program, leaves the process susceptible to bias and manipulation.

She has the receipt. Given the likelihood of tainted pork offal, the chemical signature of the nandrolone in her B-sample was inconclusive according to WADA's own technical guidelines.

I believe Marc Scott was slightly over and appealed the decision and won. it is blatantly obvious that they are microdosing and rationalizing their behavior by being within those testing limits. They are taking from the athletes that are busting their butts the right way

This probably seems like the best explanation for Shelby. Centro shared Salazar tips on how to microdose and she has a different body chemistry so misjudged it.

Do you think any of the other Bowerman athletes are doing this?

Is it offputting I will still root for Centro?

If they were within some “legal limit,” then they didn’t test positive for nandrolone. If there was an appeal, I wonder why it isn’t on the AIU or USADA websites where the list appeals. It would help if your inside source could add more substance to the claim.

BTW, I wish I had an inside source like everyone else!
