You are right that we have many layers of administrative costs in our current health care system. The unnecessary layers add to the cost in many ways, but mainly because there is no price feedback for the customer until its too late. If you ask what anything costs while receiving care, the facility has no idea. To contain costs, health insurance should have much higher deductibles (which would drive down premiums) and most non-catastrophic medical care should be paid for out of pocket. However, government regulation already in place great restriction on customer choice when it comes to insurance. The ACA was essentially just a giant layer of extra regulations for health insurance to comply with. And surprise surprise, the costs when up.
Adding a single payer government option to the mix just adds ANOTHER layer of unnecessary administrative cost. And government is the worst kind of administrator because they are responsible to no one. The government can't go out of business no matter how poor they perform, and the government has a monopoly on violence so their decision is final and there is nothing you can do about it.
I'm just trying to warn people to not enslave themselves because they falsely believe they will have more convenience or security. It's a trick to steal your liberty. Live free and brave and don't look to the government to solve every problem. The government is just a bunch of flawed people (like all of us) with no accountability. The government holds all the power, so even though they pretend they want to solve social problems, their only real goal is to perpetuate their monopoly on power.
You want the hospital to be run like the DMV? Have you heard how awful the VA is? Why in the world do you think government controlled health care for everyone would be any better than these bureaucratic nightmares?
