I don't agree with your numbers, but the premise is correct.
Pacing (i.e drafting) is what leads to crazy times at Monaco in the distance events (plus the weather).
Not a bouncy track.

Ethiopia s prioritising 5k as still can dope aerobically more and finding it hard to compete with Kenya in 1500m .

As the smart guys predicted - the guys who warned one all about the drug use in E. Africa years and years ago - the powers that be are going to allow MORE drug use by third world athletes in general, and E. Africans in particular. All of it in a roundabout way to try and brush off the recent drug busts that have proven that we've all had a front row seat to three decades of b.s. served up the Rosas, Hermens, Aden, and others who work or have worked with hundred and hundreds of very willing athletes.
Exactly what those horrible guys, those guys much smarter than the naive lemmings, what they predicted is happening lol. Guys running 12:40s, soon we'll have guys finishing up a 10k with the final 5k in less than 13 mins, and it's only going to get more hilarious before the sport collapses under the horse manure. It'll rival the glory of days of cheats like Geb, a spectacular responder to drugs, running wild and laughing at everyone. And the lemmings will think the laughter is from joy, rather than it being triggered by the gullibility of the lemmings in the first place. LOL Don't worry, by next season Kenyans will be running 3:25, 12:40 along with the rest of the best responders from Ethiopia. And the naive lemmings will eat it up.
I agree there is a problem with drug use in Africa, and yes, they have been getting away with less testing for decades now, but your theory that recent busts are somehow a cover up or conspiracy, and that the IAAF are going to allow even more widespread doping in the near future, makes no sense at all. What would be their motives in doing this?
I think enough people in important positions within the sport know that Europe is still the most important market and supporters of the sport, and realise that many there have had enough of rampant dopers dominating the sport and keeping many of their own athletes from winning medals. It is this reaction, of not watching or turning over whenever T&F comes on tv out of an ingrained belief that what they're seeing isn't real, that the IAAF realise they have to address if the sport is to be saved. I think the busts in those countries which, for one reason or another, have been afforded some kind of immunity, will only see more widespread busts in the future. Unfortunately, the sensitive nature of the situation, in terms of political correctness, means that this will be a slow and difficult process for those in charge. There are already calls from some that there is a national or racial agenda behind the many recent Kenyan busts. This is exactly the sort of reaction that the IAAF want to avoid, and one which will just slow down the process of removing cheats from the sport.
An 18 year old Ethiopian runs a 12:43 and the reaction over overwhelmingly negative. A 17 year Norwegian runs 3:31 and it's like Christmas here. Can anyone explain that?

Probably comes down to the differing standards of out of competition testing for PEDs.

Alex, I'll take "Figures of Speech" for $1000.
Answer: What's a rhetorical question?
That's right, since the question was asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer.

Don't worry bruh, I gotcha:
Here you go:
18 year old is black and African like few posters on LR, but 17 year old is a white guy. It' that simple.
Even though he is not American, he is "one of their own", just like Nick Willis, Nate Brannen from Canada...they'll say it's because they went to college in the US, but lots of Africans go to college in the US (and HS before that), and they are never embraced the the typical poster here. It's the reason why people here are up in arms about UTEP ruining the sport, but they have no problem with heavily Irish/Aussie/NZ teams at Providence, Villanova, etc.
We see this again with the obsession with Mary Cain since HS and well after it is clear that she is washed up. Meanwhile, Ajee Wilson and much more accomplished non-white athletes get no such love.
Lesson over. Let the usual defensive explications/justifications begin!
That standard of testing would be outrageously expensive and simply out of reach for most countries except for those in Western Europe and the US. So is it fair to say that given that caveat, it is simply impossible to celebrate performances except for those from athletes in Western Europe and the US? They are simply never going to afford to set up that system, and they'd much rather deal with bigger problems even if they did come up with that money.
Also, historically, haven't the biggest scandals of PED cheating come from those western countries that have this high standard of testing? Spain, Russia, Italy, Norway, Finland, and especially the US come to mind.
PED doubts. wrote:

Someone here will know where to find the stats showing the number of out of competition tests each has had, then there'll be no probably to it.
I'm not saying either is or isn't a PED user, but therein lies the difference to the question "Can anyone explain that?".

Maybe the speed peptide is the new rocket fuel? (except in Kenya. Lol).

I, for one, truly hope so.
I personally don’t care if every single one of them is doped to the gills. I enjoy watching a fast race. I also enjoyed watching Lance when he was taking scalps regardless of his method.

Ok, let me start
White guys are not as good as black guys
Therefore, we don't expect as much from them. If a white guy broke 12:50, this site would explode
Same for women. We don't expect them to do as well. If a woman broke 13:00, we would talk about it forever
Black men > white men > women

No matter how their achievement feels not fair for you . Still there are some guys out there working hard and their high attitude nd their gene which makes their dream come true
I know it seems impossible for you guys
But
BEKELE... Gebreselassie .. Sehin... Kejelcha...barega
All are clean athletes ... World class ethiopians
If EPO was their key for success European athletes would be the first one to use it
If Ben True can run 13-flat somewhere in no man's land, then for sure some 20-year old Ethiopians in a group can go 12:40-something.

"the reaction over overwhelmingly negative" he meant to say, Ethiopians are accused immediately of doping, while Jakob appears purely as a prodigy.
Barega is 4th fastest man. 6th fastest time.
Both Bekele & Haile have run faster twice.

That was the best set up of all time for breaking the WR.
The energy saving Barega and Gebriwhet were enjoying sat behind the best pacemaker that's ever existed are huge. Barega had someone right in front of him for 12 laps.
This means one thing: Kjelcha can break the WR. Astounding run by him.
No he can't....
He had pacing to 3k. That's better than Bek/Geb had...and still "only" 12:45. In optimum conditions.

Yes. We now have two men able to break the WR!
But after this it won't happen in a race with both of them there.
Good money ahead for the guys who finished 12:50-13:00 if they are willing to run rabbit next year - as both Barega's agent and Kejelcha's agent has to bid over each other. Also Dejen Gebremeskel (The 12:46 guy in 2012) is still a world class road runner, he might be paid good money to come back for that too.

+1
Letsrun authors are now referring to Bekele, Geb, Komen and Barega as the 'sub 12:45 club'
The first three are the sub 12:40 club!
The sub 12:45 club just has Barega in it.
I don't think Barega deserves to be put alongside those three just yet.
