Bragging, boasting, self aggrandizement, being self important and shamelessly seeking publicity are annoying and undesirable habits. Irritating but not illegal. You can get elected president.
Lying, bullying and insulting others - not ok. But when we insult Mike, we share some culpability.
Physical threats, intimidation and actual violence - against the law. Battering your spouse - particularly objectionable today. Self defense is one thing. But he seems to have crossed the line a few times.
Ultimately isn't his smug refusal to admit he cheated what really galls people? We can't stand that he refuses to concede that he lied. Now he has done that to some extent in his Facebook post, I think. Or is blaming alcohol, as if the true culprit is "a bottle," a way for him to absolve himself of responsibility?
His life really has been torn apart. Is it time for all of us to move on? When I hear about his latest shenanigans, I admit I'm interested. It's like seeing a car accident. It also makes me queasy. What business is it of ours that he punched someone?
I particularly feel sick to my stomach when I think about his kids. They are blameless, obviously. He seems to genuinely care for them, but he is such a poor role model and has been so publicly shamed that they face some tough challenges ahead.

I remember way back when the whole turkey trot episode played out and he kept coming on here and attacking people and making innuendo posts and threats. Anybody else in his position when they saw how far out of control the thread became at that point, would have known to just stop posting stuff. I would have thought he'd just shut down all of his social media then, especially when it was obvious his FB and Twitter were being stalked 24/7. The guy is his own worst enemy.

Wow! I haven't been following the Rossi story very closely but I did comment early on in the original thread when his cheating became obvious to everyone who has ever run a marathon.
Reading this thread (not all of it) leads me to ask, has his life gone completely downhill since his now infamous running of Boston and the subsequent "letter"?
It sounds like he's lost his job and now has been arrested? Is that the story now?
Oh Mikey! That sucks bro. I didn't comment much in the original thread and I definitely went out of my way in those few posts to try and compel You to come clean about his cheating. As a father myself, I tried to appeal to you sense of responsibility as an example for your kids. That didn't seem to work at all.
But, Mike--if your reading this--can't you see all the negative consequences of your lies? I don't know if all of this is karma for your past sins or if your cheating in races was simply a symptom of a broader dysfunction in your life. Regardless, I beg you to come clean--admit you cheated at Via. Trust me you'll feel better. It'll fit in well with your broader recovery.
And who knows, may be with some coaching you can qualify for Boston and regain your dignity? Don't do it for yourself do it for your kids.

I get why people do it, but I find the "hi Mike" responses and their like annoying. The original thread was interesting from an analysis of times and photos and the discussion of morality and relativity which shares a lot of different viewpoints about the same general conclusion that he cheated. But then the threads all detiorate into a caustic hate of him and anyone who doesn't think he is public enemy #1. Heaven forbid if we think he is public enemy # 37 and think being posterized on Philly Mag as Loser of year before your side and kids is pretty significant
His life is a fascinating study in karma and appears that he will go on reaping.
