What don't you understand about this? There's no necessary trade-off to be made between times and medals; people don't have to choose one or the other. Or, at least, the runners who many consider to be the greatest (guys like Bekele and Geb) never had to choose between running 12:40 and winning Oly gold. They did both.

Mo Farah is 34 yrs old and you would think somebody can out kick him at this relatively advanced age. If he wins double gold (again), he's the GOAT. End of discussion.

Not sure if you're aware, but Bekele and Geb have more than "a few" global championships themselves. They also have many, many other accomplishments that Farah lacks.

Let me tell all you dopes something. Mo is going to finish out his career winning double in London - leaving that track as an absolute LEGEND and the GOAT.

He's then going to take some time off and then ramp up Marathon training for a Spring marathon and announce his presence with AUTHORITY. He goes into one of the following Boston, London, Paris or Berlin and wins convincingly.

At first I thought you were trolling, but after reading your comments, I realized that your comprehension skills probably require a little more explanation, with more time devoted to going over and reviewing the concept. Since I'm a special education teacher I felt uniquely qualified to explain it to you.

When people talk about a runner who is the Greatest Of All Time, or GOAT, they refer to a runner who is so good, no one else can come close to accomplishing what that runner accomplished. In the past few years, people have referred to Haile Gebrselassie or Kenenisa Bekele as the greatest of all time because they won many medals at the Olympic games and have set many world records. Both have also proven themselves to be very mentally tough individuals who are able to run faster than anyone else has ever run, with no help from anyone else.

But, Mr. Mo Farah has not done all of this. He has won many medals, but he has not proven that he is mentally tough enough to run an incredibly fast time by himself, without aid from any other runners. He has not proven that he is so good at running that he can run a time faster than anyone else has ever run in the history of the world. All he has done is the minimal amount of work necessary to scrape by and pick up a first place medal.

Does that make more sense now? Don't hesitate to ask questions, sweetie. I know you're different from everyone else and that it takes you longer to figure things out. Don't worry, we'll go at your pace and you'll learn it in no time! : )

I think thay every man that says that Farah is the GOAT is making a fool out of himself and an ignorant in the running world. Any runner who respects himself won't even mention Farah and Bekele in the same sentence. but I don't think that those who say really believe it. You Farah fans like medals and numbers- let's go.

Olympic golds- Bekele 3, Farah 4

WC gold- Bekele 5, Farah 5

Cross country championships- Bekele 11, Farah zero.

5k and 10k WR- Bekele both. (Please don't mention that indoor 2 mile- I don't think Bekele ever even ran that)

Why does running fast times alone equate to being the GOAT?

Showing up to a DL meet and running 3:25:59 for 1500 is cool and all but watching him compete and WIN vs. the worlds best in international competition is a far greater accomplishment. To be this consistent over this span of time and over that wide of a range of distances is something truly special. People like this do not come around often. Why can't you appreciate watching him run instead of complaining he doesn't run for time!
