When I tell non-runners that my favorite event to run is the 800m, the most common response I get is "Remind me how many laps that is."
The other funny thing I notice about non-runners is they all overestimate, with complete certainty, their sprint ability. They think that because they're good at running the ball for their frat's intramural flag football team, that they can break 12s easily and probably break 11s.

Tell me the Oregon sprinters didn't have an attitude problem going into the NCAA's?? They looked much better this week. No drama this week. Just run for the trip to London.
They were scared they were going to lose the triple crown and just weren't prepared mentally for the extra load when they lost a couple teammates and a relay going into the championships. That's on the coach. However, they were still hanging around the points table enough to realize they still had a chance going into the final relay and got the job done.
The Duck women sprinters are anything but mechanically sound. Could be so much faster with good coaching.
Aleec Harris wins over WR holder Aries Merritt as Devon Allen makes Team USA again. I'm not a sprint expert, but Allen kept looking over left at his competitors to check what place he was in during the final meters (at least twice). Pretty sure you're supposed to look forward and lean ... at least in a race as tight as this one.

I have been following distance running for three decades and don't know how high the women's hurdles are in the 400. Nice bit of information in the broadcast.

She has had a very non optimal build up. I think she could run 1:55, but 1:57 solo negative split in this heat after rounds means she's ready to go for London. She will be in even better shape there. If she runs 1:56 in London which I think she can do, she gets 2nd behind Semenya.
She has a chance at 3rd if one of them sits back and eats too many pizzas and beer over the next 6 weeks or so. The 3 of them train like the high-school, club- level males that they are. Ajee - no matter how hard she works - doesn't have a chance if they even have a semi-decent build up. Because they are MEN.
I'm a man and I could never break 2:00 no matter how hard I tried...
Prandini and Puma don't seem to go together so well.
