I saw Levon Helm perform a few years before he passed away, and hearing him sing The Weight might have been my peak musical experience.
Shirley Bassey at her best could convey emotion and feeling, even in a Bond theme (this is the best one of all time, imo):

You have got to be out of your mind. Who knew that Dolly Parton wrote the song until it was made famous by Whitney? Whitney put that song in the stratosphere for it never to be returned. Compared to Whitney's version Dolly's sounds like a child in kindergarten.
