What is the smallest animal that can defeat an unarmed adult man in a fight to the death?

People give humanity too little credit. You put a 50 lb creature with 50 lb strength against a 200 lb man with 200 lb strength inside a fight cage, the litter critter is going down. This is MOSTLY true. I dont think any 50 lb dog could take down a reasonably athletic and competent man (not talking about 130 lb runners here).

On the other hand I'd bet on the wolverine. Way too quick to get a real kick in. And skin way too loose for a human to grab/strangle. Human would probably lose by bleeding to death.

I was raised in Alaska and have seen many wolverines in the wild. They are extremely tenacious but there is no way one could kill a grown man in a fight to the death. I would stomp that sucker out. I might get some scratches but it is going down. Gimme a break.

I was once charged by a brown bear and it came within 20 feet before if stopped. Talk about a feeling if helplessness (is this a word?). Probably a little big for this thread though.

Also if you are the guy that was killed by a swan...talk about an embarrassing death. My word!

I think you have to narrow the rules to exclude a one up fight. People lift cars off of babies. Eagles kill deer.

Let's go with a near certainty of death for the human, something like 90-95 percent of the time they die.

Bear or lion. Big difference in weight. Lion wins. A 400 pound lion would kill an unarmed man every time it wanted to. So would a 1200 pound grizzly.

A chimpanzee could certainly easily kill several men together. The ease at which it could kill a man almost makes it certain that a smaller animal could win as well.

Yes, but the subject is the smallest ANIMAL...meaning smallest organism that is a member of the kingdom Animalia. Bacteria, viruses, and prions, therefore, wouldn't qualify. The subject isn't smallest organism that could kill an unarmed man. It is smallest ANIMAL that could kill an unarmed man.

It is a fight to the death. The motivation is that they will be beaten to death if they do not fight.

My vote is for a type of police dog like a German Shepherd or Doberman Pinscher who has received training for taking down men. Crazy German heritage (or whatever it's called for dog breeds) definitely helps.

I think that you are overestimating man. I have seen the results of an 75 lb police dog versus a man, and it was not even close. I have to believe that something smaller than that could also win.

One german shepherd is not killing a grown man unless he gets lucky with an artery. You may be bleeding. You may be missing a ball or two. You may be walking weird on monday. But you will be alive and the german shepherd will be dead 99 times out of a 100. Same goes for a chimpanzee that is not gorilla size against multiple men. SIZE MATTERS. An animal much more massive than another, barring the lucky artery strike would concuss the othe animal with time like a pinata.
