13:13 Kenenisa Bekele's done
13:13 Kenenisa Bekele's done
Yeah but Eth now have Hagos Gebrhiwet.
Seriously whodafuk is this guy?
I hope your correct! I hope he's done getting injuried so he can return to full fitness and amass some more Olympic and World Gold Medals. Is that what you meant?
I honestly think Kenenisa Bekele is sandbagging the 2012 season or purposely going into races with tired legs (racing will in the midst of heavy training). His goal is to be Olympic Champion at 10000m a goal only one other person have accomplished in the last 50 years.
Race to your ability and go into the Olympics as the target or come off an injury season and lose on the GP circuit and leave Mo Farah as the favorite. The field will focus more on Mo and no pressure on Kenenisa!
Bekele is DONE. It is Galen Rupp's time now!
Whoever has the most advanced and skilfully applied PEDs will get the medals.
We will we if Bekele's done. I wish Kenenisa Bekele wins the Gold and Galen Rupp the silver, hmmmmm that's a distinct possibility. The most likely scenario will be Kenenisa the Gold, Mo Farah the silver, and Galen the bronze or 4th or 5th place but hopefully the bronze!
I agree Bekele isn't done and have 2-3 more years on the track at which he will be a 5000m or 10000m Gold medal threat (especially if he doesn't try to double) if he can stay healthy!
Kenenisa Bekele has been having plenty good stints of training since his last race July 6. He is certainly close to 26:30 - 26:35 shape but not much faster and deseperately wants to be the first man to win 3 straight Olympic 10000m titles. Kenenisa would trade in all his WR for his 3rd Oly 10000m title!!!!!

Okay Kenenisa for Gold. Vipam who do you think will win silver and bronze?
Vipam are you basing this prediction on knowledge, have you heard much about bekele's last phase of training?
Kenenisa's training as been going great and his endurance and speed have both increased enough for me to pick him over Mo Farah. Am I saying Kenenisa's an overwhelming 10000m favorite, No but a favorite nonetheless. A month made a big difference for him in his attempt to be the first man EVER to win 3 straight 10000m Oly titles.
If Kenny B wins his 3rd 10000m title he is the GOAT and should move to the marathon in 2013. If not he can still go for title number 3 in 2016.
It's offical Kenenisa Bekele is back in form and ready to whip Mo and Rupp backside back to reality!
VIPAM where do you get this information from? I am not trying to argue but of course Hermans would talk Bekele up, not matter what his form would be.
I also acknowledge that the Ethiopians need to make up their mind about the qualification process. I would just take the three best (+1 sub) of the last 12 months (in terms of time) run anywhere in the DL, since trials are probably not an option.
Honestly was Kenenisa told not to win the Olympic 10000m in exchange for something like total domination in 2013. Just like in cycling, NFL, NBA, and other major sports more goes on behind the scenes then the fans really know at ang given time.
Kenenisa Bekele was improving drastically over 2012 and June kicked to a 27:02 Ethiopian Trials 10000m victory and in July improved his 5000m season best to 12:55 from the 13:13 season debut. SO what happened to the Kenenisa that was rounding into top form?
And how did he go from this type of 53.87 last 400m easing

I say it was scripted between him, IOC, IAAF, and his managers for something that will allow him to dominate 2013!
Ooh
This thread is over three years old and was started right after Kenenisa won his last championship.
No records or championships since.
This thread is a curse.

So for you to ignore that hitting age 27-29 isn't the downward trend it used to be is very strange when facts show elite athletes improving all the way to their late 30's which mean Kenenisa could have another 5-9 years of improving left in him. Just because Kenenisa don't run personal best every year (to my knowledge very few every does) don't mean his best days are behind him.
No offense, but you are either really stupid or you're just trying to pull my leg. Look at Kenenisa's progression. Yeah, he can set personal bests in the half marathon and marathon, but your remark about Kenenisa improving for the next 5-9 years sounds like the observation of an imbecile. As John McEnroe would say, "You cannot be serious!"
You nailed it in 2010 chet. That post your responding to is nonsense.
Over a month ago there was a news article stating, "Kenenisa is interested in Alberto Salazar as his coach". The subject dropped off and I haven't heard anymore about it what happened?
Why wouldn't Alberto want to train the greatest distance runner ever, do you think it has anything to do with his loyalty to Galen Rupp?
Kenenisa Bekele chance of breaking his 5000m/10000m track world records are very, very slim; however, he showed by being beating Mo Farah that he is far from done! If he can stay healthy for two complete seasons, he should still be able to run sub 12:50 and 26:40.
Mo Farah closed on him in the last 200m of the BUPA 1/2 Marathon; however, if you look closely Kenenisa once he was in his all out sprint opened a gap back on Mo in the last 50-60 meters!
Would love to see Kenenisa add the 20000m, 1 hour track World Best to his exisiting track world records! If he can stay healthy for two straight years, how do you think he will fare at the 2015 Worlds and 20000m and 1 hour track worlds records?
