Womens Oly Trials Marathon Standards

Qualifying Standards Events in bold will be contested at the Trials. Events listed directly below those being contested may be used as alternates for qualifying. See Qualifying Guidelines below for full details. Qualifying window: January 1, 2009 - [30 days before the Olympic Trials], or October 4, 2009 Event "A" "B" Marathon 2:39:00 2:47:00 Half Marathon 1:15:00 10,000m (track) 33:00.00 Qualifying Opportunities One-Day opportunity at the 2009 USA Marathon Championships, hosted by the Twin Cities Marathon - October 4, 2009, or; January 1, 2010 - 30 days prior to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Marathon - (TBA) Marathon Qualifying (2:39:00 or better): Any marathon sanctioned by the event's federation, and conducted on an USATF/IAAF/AIMS certified course with an active course certification, and which has an elevation loss no greater than 3.25 meters/km. Half-Marathon Qualifying (1:15:00 or better): Any half marathon sanctioned by the event's federation, and conducted on an USATF/IAAF/AIMS certified course with an active course certification, and which has an elevation loss no greater than 3.25 meters/km. 10,000m Qualifying (33:00.00 or better): Track Only. E. Qualifying Time Window: January 1, 2010 until 30 days prior to the designated Olympic Trials race, with a one-day qualifying window for the 2009 USA National Marathon Championships. F. Special Considerations: Consideration may be given to "chip/tag" times for competitors with "gun" times extremely close to the above qualifying standards. Qualifying Guidelines The qualifying mark must be made in a race on a certified course recognized by USA Track & Field or a member federation of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). The event must be sanctioned by the event's federation, and conducted on an USATF/IAAF/AIMS certified course with an active course certification, and which has an elevation loss no greater than 3.25 meters/km. The qualifying standards must be met from January 1, 2010 until 30 days prior to the designated Olympic Trials race, with a one-day qualifying window for the 2009 USA Marathon Championships (October 4, 2009). All qualifying performances are subject to verification. "Gun" time is the only acceptable method of timing. Chip/net times cannot be used for qualifying. Fully automatic timing (F.A.T.) is the only method of timing acceptable for qualifying marks from track events. Athletes must meet the "B" standard in order to enter the Selection Race. Automatic Qualification USATF Rule 10.3(b) regarding Automatic Qualification will be used. An athlete is eligible for automatic qualification into the U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Men's Marathon if that athlete has, during the year 2012, or during the four previous calendar years (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), accomplished one of the following: Earned an individual medal in an Olympic Games or in an IAAF World Championship marathon. Won an individual USA Marathon Championship. Won a U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon event. In addition, automatic qualification into the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon will be provided to those athletes who were members of a past U.S. Women's Olympic Marathon Team. An athlete whose entry into the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Women's Marathon is based solely on the "automatic qualification" provision is not eligible to receive funding to the Trials unless she has already met the Olympic Trials "A" standard.

I had a cat that would actually follow my dog and me when we would head out for a run. He would follow for about 100 meters and then run ahead and hide and then follow again. It was only for about 500 meters, but it was fun and I think unusual, for a cat. Gawd, I miss that cat. :(
