Is Solomon Haile really 20 years old?

my guess is, he has run a 1:08 half marathon and hasnt even been trying.

its alright it doesnt mater joseph manilafasha will still smoke him anyway he's in the 14ns twice this season in colorado so , joseph doest care weather the kid is 17 or 25 hes still excited about having some competition . so good luck to solomon haile, solomon semugue or what ever alse he calls him self and im pretty sure joseph could run 1:05 for a half !!

do we have to go through this again?? there is NO age limit. for example, an athlete could (though unlikely) finish high school, NOT run any races (but train their butts off) and after 5 years, they'd still have 5 years of eligibility, with zero concern of how old they were. this is how guys like chris weinke were playing ncaa DI football at 27 years young. basically, there's no age limit in any division, just rules about how much you can compete prior to college enrollment but post high-school.

Great article. Even if Haile can get away with his age scam, there is proof that he took $500 for running, making him ineligible for HS and College participation.

Doesn't sound like the MD athletics organization is too interested in following up:

No, he was 17 and 5 days old when he won, which made him one of the favorites at Hartford in Oct. 07 (according to the race preview) which he ran right off the plane after a 16 hour flight.(Then he was 17 and 9 months old if you believe the current 'calendar').

Also, he was 17 when he was 9th at the sky marathon in the Italian Alpes and 10th at the biggest race in Austria. (BTW, he traveled apaprently by himself, although you can google the other Ethipian guy at the Wachau marathon.)

there's a rumor on dyestat that haile is now in hearings and claims that it wasn't him running in thailand, austria, etc. but some other guy with the same name. that would be totally bizarre...

How can his sister, who has been in the US for 13 years (?) and thus is fully aware of the Western calendar, think he is 3 years older than he now says he is? And why does it take her over a year to figure that part out (3 months while he is in the US?) To enter Thailand, Austria, and the US, you need to have a visa and a passport which require the correct birth date.

Of course, it's also strange that his age change coincides with the name change and the move to Maryland.

I couldn't read all of the mocorunning.com crap....it made me a bit sick with the PC covering up of everything. A bit racist, as portrays these Ethiopians as coming here as "noble savages" unfamiliar with our ways. Haile is playing the liberal fools in Montgomery County, Maryland for a bunch of saps. Sad.

That article would have gotten a "D" in 10th grade English class. No journalistic integrity at all. I could not take any of it seriously.

It sounds like the author wants Solomon to be his friend. Look at his facebook page. He's riding Webb's back. Maybe that is how he feels important sucking up to the good runners.
