didn't geb run 58:55 in phoenix?

Yes, Geb's 1/2 WR was set on US soil and his pace was likely faster there than today.
Ryan Hall is still better than Abdi.
Houston is a humid motherf***er. Its along the coast too, so the ocean breeze can add to the wind situation.
Today wasn't that windy today at all in NYC. Just hot and humid, but not as much as Houston was when Ryan Hall did what he did.
Abdi had a good run, but it wasn't as good as Ryan Hall's, and Ryan's Marathon was even more impressive.
Ryan is the better runner. Doesn't have the resume but he is the better runner, and in less than 2 years he will prove it.
Last time I checked, Houston was 50 miles inland....not quite "on the coast". Unless Katrina changed all that.

Not to mention Hall's half was in January.

You're retarded once again -- he ran that race in January. There is no way the conditions today in NYC were better than the conditions for Hall.
I do think that Hall will eventually be better than Abdi, though.
its houston jackass.
south Texas. It stays 70-80 there year round.
AND it was humid as hell. Remember, Houston is basically Mexico.
So the January comment is just pure ignorance.
are you ignorant? you seem to be very much so.
It was extremely humid in Houston and reasonably warm (60's I think), but the course isn't as hilly as the Central park section. Hall was by himself for a long long way. To make a comparison of the two runners and their races is probably not appropriate, both Ryan and Abdi were in awesome shape and deserve a lot of credit. Abdi showed that he can go sub 60 right now on the right course and the right weather.
there was a fairly sizeable tailwind today in manhattan. the flag/banners/leaves all were horizontal and pointing south (towards the finish line) on 7th and cps. it also wasn't hot -- it was 70 after the race was over according to ny1. the results page lists 71 and 61% humidity. the running conditions were about as good as one could hope for in manhattan in august (particularly with a tailwind for the entire stretch outside of the park). with that said, running up the west side in the park and the harlem hill is no walk in the park. that's a lot of vertical climbing for a 59!
i turned the sound off, and just watched the video.
this is a very special human.
watching him run is as close to poetry/ballet than anything i've ever seen in racing flats.
he is like no other before him.
words can't do justice.
I agree and he's been doing this for 10+ years.

Houston in January is probably as close to perfect running weather as you can get - the average high for the month is 63 with a low of 45.

I ran the Houston HM this year myself and it was great weather. It was in the 50s at start and when I finished it was lo 60s. And it wasn't humid at all that day. It was clean.

Thank you for schooling Peeps.
Surely you don´t expect Peeps to be right about anything?
