South Dakota:
Jimmerson, Dehaven, and Mills to name the best, but there was a guy from RC Central named Maas who ran at Stanford and did OK in the 1500 for them. That Ramsey Kavan girl is starting to turn some heads, too.
Wyoming:
Jim McCreery, Campbell County - 1:52, 4:14 HS to PAC-10 champ as a frosh at AzSt. Only ran around 1:48 in college though.
Ryan Bolton, Campbell County - nothing great in HS (1:57,4:20ish) but finished 11th as a senior at NCAA XC for UWyo, and competes well in triathlons now (Olympic qualifier in 2000).
Alicia Craig, Campbell County (i think i see a pattern) - great HSer to great college runner at Stanford
Sam Burley, Cheyenne Central - has an NCAA 800 crown along with several A-A's to his credit
Ariana Lee, Lander - great career at MontSt.
Jessica Cross, Worland - A-A hammer (or discus?) thrower at UWyo
But the two best from this state have to be:
JOHN GODINA, Cheyenne Central - I watched him throw 210 at the state meet in 1990 . . . incredible. You know what else he's done.
LANCE DEAL, Riverton - Great enduring career. Could probably go out next July and finish in the top 3 at Oly Trials.
I can't think of any others worth mentioning.
Not bad for a state with only half a million people in it.
