Right, exactly. And this person calling libel seems to be extremely close to the program with all kinds of details, but as soon as someone asks what the allegations are, they go silent. What are the exact allegations?
All it takes is one disgruntled parent who thinks her kid is some kind of elite runner and doesn’t get her way. Enough said. See my comment above
One parent’s complaint would not get a coach suspended. I doubt that. There would need to be multiple complaints and an investigation. Sounds like there is something going on here.
Apparently there is an investigation. He’ll be back.

Surprised as a Cuse guy you need to even ask. Go to any former athlete or Cuse coach and you’ll get the truth. It’s ridiculous
No allegations have been disclosed to the public during an open investigation. It ensures there is no bias and that privacy is protected. The rumor mill is taking over.
You claim that local coaches and alumni (and the SU coach - seriously?) know the allegations? You are now officially on record for alleging these claims. This is very interesting. Please share specifically what the current Syracuse University Coach is saying about Coach Aris.
Until now, Bill Aris seems to have been held to the highest standards at FM, proven by his continued coaching for over three decades while other coaches have come and gone.
If Aris is suddenly dismissed and not brought back without founded allegation, it would be very questionable. As in - is he being targeted because of his age? If not - are a few people trying to force a coaching change because he’s just been there too long for their liking? These are not grounds for dismissal. They are grounds for a discrimination lawsuit.
If some issue needs to be resolved, that will be determined through the investigation and the school will address it and work with him through corrective action (if even justified). Or, maybe it’s found that he’s done absolutely nothing wrong and life goes on.
High school coaching is an extremely thankless job, and dealing with vicious parents and next to nothing pay, most couldn’t or wouldn’t do it if they could.

The allegations are from several parents. One is from a male runner who is injured and Bill said he shouldn’t be racing. The parents were all over him. Saying he should be getting cortisone shots and allowed to run. There is a threatening lawsuit from a few other clueless parents claiming their girls were being forced to stick with a diet which is completely false and they were string beans back in middle school. The middle school program did a disservice making these girls out to be some kind of future D1 athletes and the parents ate it up. When things went south and they didn’t live up to expectations and got injured ( which also happens before Bill) let’s blame Bill even though they’re underclassmen. These parents have clout in the school from their involvement. It’s disgusting how helicopter parents take revenge on a legendary coach who is also dealing with personal issues that they all know about.

This thread should be required reading for anyone crazy enough to consider high school coaching . Here is the greatest high school coach this century and he can get suspended because 3 or 4 parents conduct a campaign to get rid of him. 3 things any potential coach should remember :
1. you have no job protection / each year you are up appointment again . There is no tenure and ADs care very little about track and cross country and know the tiger parents will be after them if they stand up for their coaches,
2. Parents are insane. Parents consider their kids the mechanism to achieve the success they never did. Parents who went to SUNY Cortland expect their kids to go to Cornell . Parents who were jv think their offspring will end up with a D 1 full ride. And they will do anything in their power to destroy anything that they think stands in their kid’s way. Lastly , no parent has an accurate assessment of their child’s athletic ability . Almost all hire private coaches who sing their kid’s praises to keep the paychecks coming. Most parents don’t have the faintest idea what is involved in athletic success .
3. proper training or child abuse ? I was an assistant coach this year at a school that was at the very bottom of the section . Every dual meet we lost by a wide margin . Last in every invitational and the league championship. Every time a girl said her legs hurt the head coach would excuse her from practice for a week , pretty soon every girl on the team thought she was hurt and we would only have 8 out of 35 kids practicing at a time . The head coach couldn’t figure out why the girls never improved . You have to train hard to be competitive but it’s easy for any parent to allege child abuse if their kid gets injured . Pointing the finger at the coach is the easiest thing in the world . The days of the super coach / dynasty are over killed yby rapid parents and the absence of protection for coaches .
Mediocrity is job security in high school,

I used to run a baseball card shop in town back in the day and the kids who I used to rip off would come to my shop and talk about Bill Aris. His coaching exploits are legendary.
My father, Coach Bill Aris, is the legendary, well respected 12 time … John Aris needs your support for Help return Coach Aris to his teams at FM High School!

In reading the comments on this article, this sure sounds like a witch hunt.
Some have previously used Christine Rutledge, former star FM runner, as rationale to support their false narratives, speaking about her struggles with eating disorders and injuries.
She left a comment on this article which very much dissolves those false narratives accusing Bill Aris of practices he has never engaged in.
This is insane. What a witch hunt. A couple of helicopter parents seeking vengeance because their kids aren’t performing as well as they expected in their minds and blaming injuries on a coach. Yet no one mentions the injuries in middle school when Bill wasn’t even involved. I hope more runners speak up on their relationships with Bill because the majority loved him -so we can put this disgraceful investigation to bed. Aris doesn’t deserve to be dragged through the mud like this.
