Woodbridge runs a 10:13 to become DMR leader in California. Antonio anchored with about a 4:10. Could be faster with the wind/dryness going on today in Socal.
I asked the coach, and according to him Antonio ran a split of 4:06 high, which was his pr from last season.
That is really impressive. I was at a meet in Long Beach today and I saw 5.0 winds frequently on the gauge.
Difference is Gutierrez comes from a family of runners, her older sister runs at CSUMB and ran at Del Oro with Riley Chamberlin. So basically she’s grown up around running all her life which is definitely more of an advantage
^ plus she runs at a good program and there is the family running environment who can provide great guidance and advice regarding training and injuries. Notice that a lot of runners from running families do tend have some more success than ones who don’t (e.g., the Chamberlins, Strangios, Youngs, Buckleys, Soobrians, Herreras, Abbotts)
Very professional interview by Braelyn. She gets it.
Just a tip for the host, since he posted this: Like all of the other running podcasts, this podcast definitely needs a lot more energy from the host. The runner answers a question with a smile, then it goes back to the host who sounds like he's asleep and sad. Step your energy up and people will stay interested. Good luck!
Not that we talk about Pole Vault a lot on here, but the Stanislaus County meet should have some really good results on the boys side. We may see a few 15 footers today, as well as a good number of boys in the 13'6 range
