A record 53 nations won medals at these Worlds. I'll reiterate that the US count wouldn't be anywhere nearly as high if Russia (and Belarus) were allowed back.
Well maybe they should 1) stop state sponsored doping of athletes, 2) stop waging war on a neighbouring state
The US is currently threatening Venezuela. We hope WA stays consistent when they go in. But we won't hold our breath seeing how Israel competes unimpeded.
There's been talk of a stomach bug. That's why she felt bad on semi day.
Odira running an easy 1'54'' is a shock to team Keely, but she's clearly not at the peak of her potential yet. She'll have to reach the high 1'53''s next year, and I think she will.
She was fit enough to go 1:54 with aggressive pacing after rounds so can't have been too far off.
Yes I’ve been pondering that. And I guess that’s just even more impressive considering no speed training and 2 races…
She did look like she was working a hell of a lot harder than Odira (and even Hunter-Bell).
She has been way better than anyone else for some time now, including in her spectacular comeback. She probably wasn't on what the others were on. 1:55 is the new 1:57.

For the same reasons as Kratochvilova. Obvious as hell.
Doping has a more marked effect on women. That is why we talk about the East German women's swim team, Ma's army, and why so many Soviet era women's times are still near or at the top. Basic biology.
Andrews gets a lot of accusations around here because of her "huge" drop in the 5000m. She dropped from 14:43.36 (1196 WA points) in 2023 to 14:254.37 (1231 WA points) this year. That is a 35-point drop in two years as opposed to a 30-point drop in one year.
I'm not one to throw around accusations and I personally think that probably at least 95% of all pros are clean, including Andrews, Hurta, Mu, Wilson, and Wiley whom I mentioned above, but the accusations are extremely biased here. If you are going to accuse Andrews, you need to accuse Hurta.
Even the IAAF had to admit that at least 30% are dopers. At least 95% clean?? LOL
Lets go back to the anonymous survey they did at the London 2012 Games: without looking for the actual number, I believe that it was 50% or better who admitted that they had used some type of PED in training.
Testing had caught, at that time, something like 3%.
That was the real number over a decade ago. We should assume that micro-dosing, and whatever the new rocket fuel that the women are on, are significantly more sophisticated today.
Hunter Bell is really be testing the Brits' nationalism.
What about Odira having a pb of 2:11 at '20', taking five years off, having a child, and running 1:54 after one year?
Everyone thinks their country is clean and others are doping. Which is a joke. Often sour grapes. All countries are doping.
However Odira having a PB of 2:11 at age 20 is likely because she was not training seriously. In fact she joined a serious training group only last year. Not everyone in Kenya has access to distance running camps or coaches. Some live in remote rural areas with no running camps. For all you know, that 2:11 was probably running barefoot on grass.
I do note that when she was 17, she was Kenya national high school champion. Which is a huge deal because there is incredible distancer running talent in the Kenya school games. However I think the coaches and agents neglected and ignored her because she was not from the areas of Kenya that typically produce distance runners.
So, Sage goes from never being good enough toake a team to #3 all time and no one on this crazy board is saying drugs? Yet the Kenyan as to be on them?
You said something most of us already know. Sage, Andrews, etc get a defense team behind them when accused of doping because God forbid we say our Americans cheat. It’s only those that make the podium (which is usually a different country) and not those that ran a couple of seconds slower that are accused. Piss poor logic. Let’s face it - most of us all know that US pro runners are cheating like the rest of the world.

Alas we forget that the code for USA doping is “breakthrough”
