Paulino also ran a sub 48. Does Kersee train her as well? SML has the strength built up over running the 400H. You people are so freaking stupid.
You probably said the same thing about those who accused Lance Armstrong
And you would be wrong. I never knew who Armstrong was as I had no nor have now, any interest in cycling. I do have an interest in track and have followed the career of this brilliant young lady since she was in high school.
A number of variables come into play with exceptional athletes, like mental toughness, hard work, and great coaching.
But one factor that I think we'll see more and more is genetics, where we have children of exceptional athletes, like Mondo.
It's also true for Sydney: Her dad "is a member of the Manhattan CollegeAthletic Hall of Fame as a three-time All-American. He was a semi-finalist in the 400 meters at the 1984 Olympic Trials. Her mother Mary was a 2:12 half-miler at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda, New York, where she ran on the boys' team." Wikipedia
Wow. I didn't know that about her parents. Thanks for the information.
Sweet mother... FFS dude, do you honestly think someone will look the same as a teenager to when they are in their mid 20s going thru elite training for years? Really?
I know we are all born ignorant, but you my friend, has worked extremely hard at remaining incredibly stupid.
The most important question is where does this put McLaughlin-Levrone on the list of ALL-TIME American women's sprinters? Of course she is unquestionably the greatest 400 meter hurdler, but I think everyone has a little bit more respect for the flat events. Well, now she has just demolished the American record and won perhaps the greatest women's 400 meter race of all time. With this run, she has now arguably taken the baton from the legendary Alison Felix as the most versatile sprinter ever. She needs a few more medals to pass Felix on the GOAT list, but with a world record (which I think may be inevitable at this point) and an Olympic gold in the 400, not only would she pass Felix, she'd be in FloJo territory.
I don't see how it's possible to make a case for any other female American sprinter
Felix doesn't have WRs/CRs or individual dominance in events like Sydney, her medal haul is amazing of course but a lot of them are from relays
Felix doesn't even have any American records
Flo Jo is Flo Jo but she will always have an asterisk and she didn't have the longevity Sydney has displayed
And then you have to factor in Sydney is far from done
By the time she retires I think Bolt will be the only sprinter you can make a case for in terms of being greater than Sydney
World class in teens - what like Asbel Kiprop world junior champ or Lance Armstron who turned pro at 16. They have to be extremely good but that only takes you so far
======================================================= Marion Jones set a 15-year-old world age group record with a time of 11.13 seconds in the 100 meters.
You seem to be confused. I did not claim that someone being world class in their teens guarantees means that they are clean. (Armstrong was not unusually fast in his teens or his early pro years, by the way.) I said that the people most likely to set clean world records are those who have demonstrated astonishing talent from an early age. If you claim that someone is a cheater because they ran fast, and they have the profile of someone most likely to be clean, you are claiming that world records cannot be run clean. If that is your claim, then just say so. Don't pretend there's anything else that's weird about Syd.

You simply can’t compare Men to Women like that. Men face vastly superior competition and depth in records than women. Sydney can be the Female track athlete GOAT but she can never ever surpass Bolt or Lewis. There are a few other Men too but I’ll keep this to myself.

To each their own
All I'll say is that if the remainder of Sydney's story plays out the way I think it can and will, she will have amassed most impressive career I've ever seen regardless of gender
You have to look at the evidence. Sydney has been a very successful talented and known star since she was 12. She ran a sub 50 relay leg in high school. This was a 3 woman close race. No dominance here. Koch was part of a well known and uncovered state sponsored drug regime. Some of the women didn’t even know what they were taken. In 1983, few women outside the eastern Block ran under 50 when she went 47.60.
