I believe the heat probably also didn’t help her or Karissa. I’m shocked Josette ran so well in the heat.
I do think a 14:45 today is worth more than a perfectly paced 14:45-50 at BU or in CA, so I’d say right now she’d be 2nd in-line to make the team behind Josette.
I’m not shocked. When you’re doping you can run well in any weather. Ask Shelby
I have a hard time believing Josette will be able to hold this form until September giving how OAC has peaked for championships the past couple of years
Hope I’m wrong though! She looked great. Even got dropped and then worked her way back
Yared got 2 medals last year, Beamish was indoor world champ, and the year Monson got 5th was an A+ day. I think the reputation mostly comes from Hoare being like the clear #2 in DLs then missing the World final in 2022, but I don't think it's a peaking issue. Hoare won CWGs over a stacked field not long after, and generally people run well late into the season.
With all that said, I'm more worried about Josette because she's shown great form during the season before and then been way out of it at nationals, then run great on the circuit afterwards. But I mean, it's hard to mess up a race when you're in 14:25 shape and no one else is close to as fit as you. It feels kinda early to be in 14:25 shape, but she was still only 6th. If you want to be competing for medals, you have to be in 14:25 shape now in order to get down to the 14:00 shape needed to medal by championship time.
Decent runs from Nadia and Josette. Not too far off Monson's CWR of 14:19.45.
None of the 3 are from or represent Commonwealth Countries I think Faith Kipyegon or Beatrice Kibet has the 5000 Commonwealth Athlete Record.
Looked it up Chebet got the Commonwealth Athlete Record Today with her 14:03.69 breaking Faith Kipyegon had the Previous Commonwealth Athlete Record at 14:05.20
Ramzi means “Clean World Record,” and it’s obvious that they believe African = doped, white = clean. It’s a bad post.
Is long jump the worst event right now compared to the last 30 years. Seems most events are near their best ever, but long jump is worse than the 80s/90s.
Great US athletes that jumped in the past are now solely focused on pro football and basketball for the huge salaries, etc. They can’t be bothered with LJ or TJ and the limited income that jumping generates.

That happened in 2021, but I haven't really seen it since. In 2022 her whole outdoor season was just not good. In 2023, she ran well in the buildup, slightly underperformed at Nationals and then wasn't the same after. Last year, just injury-laden. The concern would be a repeat of 2021, but perhaps being all-in on the 5,000 and being able to now back off until USAs will help.
