Luis was brought into the country illegally but he was under the age of criminal responsibility. Under the law It is not possible for a 1-year old to commit a criminal act.
I have no problem deporting those individuals who knowingly broke the law. They understood the risk and were willing to take the chance.
But why send back an adult who has lived here continuously since they were a young.child if they have no criminal record and they are productive members of society. In some cases they may have no personal connection to the country of their birth and might not even speak the language.
I do have some sympathy for Luis and others in his position, but not enforcing the law sets a bad precedent and encourages more illegal immigration.
If parents know that they can just get across the border and their child will be allowed to stay forever, why would they not try? It's like saying if you just possess stolen property long enough it will somehow legally belong to you.

It gives him limited ability to stay in the U.S. It's very difficult for undocumented residents to obtain a green card and then eventually become a citizen. There was a time in the past where an employer could sponsor someone & they could get a green card. I personally know of a few people who got cards and the citizenship under this program. But that was years ago & it no longer exists.

I'm fairly certain that he has looked into all the various legal options and it appears that right now the O-1 visa is the best he can do. What will eventually happen with his residential status is hard to say but considering the Trump administration's hardline it's not looking great.

I think I will just choose to not do that. Sucks for those that got conquered, they should have just built a better society. Getting a green card sponsored by employer still exists. My brother did it last year with fedex. Although it’s possible it’s changed under the current administration
I think what it comes down to is that a lot of white people do not like seeing immigrants (or people of color) do better than them. Whether it's financially better off, or being faster on the track. They don't like being not at the top of the pyramid. So of course, they want to "make america put us back on top of the pyramid again"

I can assure you the immigrants that mainly concern me are not the ones "more successful" than me. It's Venezuelan gang members killing college girls and little children. Unless that's your definition of success.
Even the ones who are successful, did it thanks to the hard work us anglos did on the front end of forging the the most powerful nation in world history from a wild continent of stone age cannibals. Their SAT scores wouldn't due them much good if it wasn't for that. It's not so much that I don't like this latter group, I just think they need us a lot more than we need them. I also sometimes think they don't show enough appreciation for the before-mentioned history of our country.
We got to the moon, and won two world wars as a 90 percent white country. I think we can produce our own doctors and engineers as well.
