We merged like 5 threads into 1 and sort of combined the titles. Rojo, who said Rooks had a 1% chance at a medal, started a thread pointin gout the betting odds on Bovada were 33-1 when the race started.
I need to have my citizenship revoked. I did enjoy those races but I completely fail to see how those races would make me proud to be an American. Am I just wired differently or do some of you agree with me?
You're American and they are American. Sports have these things called "teams" and "competitions." The winner was on the American team and won the competition.
Hope this helps.
Yeah I get that. But it doesn’t help in the sense of making me proud to be an American. Whatever pride I have in being an American is not altered one iota by those races. It is not easy to change who you are. This is who I am and it sounds as if there are some others like me. It is OK.
A steeple chase runner credits his faith in Christ and prayerful scripture reading to handle hardships. He worked his way back to win after falling down in the national championship race.
While I enjoyed the race and found it entertaining, there are more consequential things the U.S. does that do not make me proud to be an American. Sure, grateful that I enjoy certain benefits from living here rather than somewhere else, but I recognize those benefits come at great expense of others.
So far after the 10,000, 1500 and Steeple, only 2 African men have finished ahead of the top American. this will be discussed and analyzed for years to come
He's never going to run faster. But it's a good time to lifetime PB.
Keep under estimating this kid! He'll keep proving you wrong.
He only ran NCAA for a couple years. He's been a pro for less than a year. This race was run extremely unfavorably for a PB. Pretty sure he'll run faster.
His 2:35 final 1000 suggests that he could run a few seconds faster right now. He might be able to run 8:00 this summer on a cool night, if he could match the intensity.

Absolutely! Sub 2 final 2 laps... He's in low 8:0's shape at minimum.
Also: I'm surprised no one seems to be talking about this.. but the Ethiopian athletes hurdling in that race was REALLY tough to watch. It shouldn't be that hard for their coaches to teach better hurdle technique. This might. have cost Girma the race... Especially practicing @ kicking paces over hurdles. It'd be like super fast 400m runners racing in the 400h but with no hurdle background.
The rest of the world is lucky PEDs exist, our country would dominate even more without them. We have the largest talent pool, most competitive development system, best coaches, etc.
Without PEDs it would be zero athletes from the Netherlands/Norway competing for medals, I promise you that 😂
