It’s hilarious! If Jakob won, the fanboys would be saying, “What a great run, I told you Jakob is the best!” But now that Jakob lost, the fanboys say, “This race didn’t matter! It was just a rust buster. It’s a good race for him because he ran so fast coming back from injury. Jakob will win the Olympics!”
The coping and excuse-making is unreal. Jakob’s fanboys have been reduced to seeking moral victories because Jakob can no longer achieve actual victories against Kerr!
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
I for my part haven´t excused and I don´t that Jakob himself has excused. He was clearly beaten by a better runner on the day.
But things can change within the next months if Jakob´s training goes well.
I think he might improve his converted 1500m time at high 3:28 with 2-3 sec judging from earlier years and his disrupted training in the end of last year and the beginning of this year.
I have stated for months that I think Kerr´s PBs on the 1500m (mile) AND 800m were due to a significant improvement DUE TO HIS IMPROVED ENDURANCE so I am not surprised at all that he PBed yesterday.
The question is who of the two can improve the most the next months?
By the way regarding Jakob´s superior speed: Did we see that yesterday?
Kerr is just plain stronger than Jakob. That's all there is to it.
Watch the replay and you'll realized Jakob just didn't have what it took to eat into Kerr's lead. The pure hate wasn't there. He wasn't just physically beaten, he was okay with losing.
Once that happens, it's over. He is no longer the best. Otherwise he would have been gritting his teeth, trying to dig deeper somehow, whatever it took.
. Makes sense that he wasn't sharp enough to win. Still pretty impressed & think in another 2+ months that he can improve enough to win.
When Jakob, at the peak of his powers last summer, couldn’t defeat the current World Champion (who at that time displayed a crushing blow of strength by overtaking Jakob coming around on the final turn), what do you think specifically is going to change in two-months time to reverse fortunes?

Kerr has been better on two occasions, props to him for that. He lost to Nuguse late last year then ducked the pre classic where he would have likely ended up third at best.
Jakob hanging with Kerr on a 53s last lap bodes very well for Jakob. On the day of the finals, all it will take is one being slightly off for the other to take advantage. I think Jakob is still the better guy but this can change with time. A 3:45 opener was significantly better than I expected, so as a Jakob fan I think he is on the right track to beat Kerr. It wouldn’t surprise me though if Kerr wins again or if Nuguse snuck past both. The 1500m is stacked right now.
Jakob does not have an advantage over Kerr in a 1500 final. His best bet would be to try to solo a 3:26 in a final, but even if he could Kerr is fit and strong enough to snipe him. Jakob is getting bossed by Kerr.
So you think that Kerr improve his SB from 2023 with near 3 sec? At the age of 26!
You are possibly among the crowd swearing that 3 years younger Jakob can´t improve anymore?

He was sick, are you just that stupid or what?
Well, if you want to go there, how much will lingering effects from the pelvis and Achilles injuries affect the outcome?
i almost puked watching Kerr's post-race interview.the dude is too much for me to handle. "who better than to push the pace than the CURRENT WORLD CHAMP?" bro, chill out.
It's unusual for a distance runner to talk like that, though sprinters do it all the time. But, Kerr is backing up the talk on the track. He's dominant right now and seemingly enjoying being the guy with a target on his back.
Correct. He can trash talk all he wants if he keeps backing it up. Funny how it was ok for Jakob to do it until Josh snatched his lollipop.

Jakob doesn't have an answer for Josh and none of you can come up with one either... cope and seethe
Yeah, I had the sense that he had another gear that he didnt use.
All that said Kerr ran a great race slammin down the stretch leaning at the tape and never looking back - I wonder if his glasses let him see behind him like a rearview mirror LOL
he was, and usually is, staring at the big screen the whole final straight. To an almost distracting degree.

Jakob starting his career so young that you can't expect him to have the same curve of improvement as others.

This. They can't answer it. Jakob isn't changing anything because he knows the 5K gold is easier. We are going to see once again the field wait for Jakob to pace and no, he isn't going to be able to solo a close to WR performance at the Olympic final. He'll get sniped.

I don't know of course, how the season will play out.
BUT: As JI was injured and definitely is on an upward trajectory, it may very well be that JI will win the Olympics.
After all he had the best kick for himself ever. As crazy as it may sound: we might see a JI in 3:25.5 - 3.26.5 shape with a strong kick in Paris. I am really impressed with his run.
The question may be, if Kerr blasts his nervous energy right now. I feel JI is more layed back. So it might be, JI has more left come August.
Pure speculation of course, but Pre was definitely a good showing and I like how upbeat he is.
I think Kerr wanted to be considered equal or better than Jakob based off the WC win, which is fair, but I think the skepticism about him was justified too. Now, with the indoor stuff and this win, Kerr has backed it up and I respect him for it. His front running in this race is what won me over. Pushing the wind is much harder, and Jakob couldn't challenge in the home stretch. Well done Josh. I believe that he is the better 1500 runner now.
That is rational. Josh won me over when he kept his foot on the gas after the WC and elevated his game to another level with the indoor WR and now seeking dominance. He is taking what he thinks is his now like a MF savage. Jakob femboys are on their knees.
