After annexing eastern Ukraine, the people you claim to need protection are protected (except from Putin, of course), so the further excursion isn't necessary to accomplish Putin's alleged aims. Of course, I have no inclination to believe that the Ukrainians have been exterminating ethnic Russians. Laughably, footage Putin's goons showed this week purporting to show Ukrainian paramilitary personnel attacking ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine turned out to be footage from an old Finnish training film.
As for the indictments of "Democrat operative people", the count stands at one. One indictment for allegedly lying to an investigator, not for any substantive crime. And it is important to note that while Trump and his fans are crying about unfair investigations, the actions of Trump, his oldest son, his campaign chief and several staffers all created a reasonable inference of interaction with the Russians. It is the job of the intelligence community to investigate such things. Trump even lied to the investigators, the crime for which Sussman has been indicted.
