To date covid hasn't been strictly seasonal. Rather the recent waves have corresponded to the emergence of new variants that were more contagious and/or better able to bypass existing immunities.
Of course it's not strictly seasonal, there are a 1,000 variables (and new variants are certainly a major factor), let's not be binary like Harambe, seasonality has been prevalent. Look at the timing of when Omicron hit the south vs. the north.

The IFR for the seasonal flu is not 0.1 %, sigh. This is like May 2020 Boomer COVID-denier talking points. Don't use the CDC data as that only covers symptomatic flu cases. NZ data suggests around ~0.03% IFR for flu:
