And began to claim nobody ever said the jab would prevent transmission and that vaccines were never mandated.

The Ph3 trial is not intended to predict the future and magically know how quickly evasive variants would emerge. The moment breakthrough infections with Delta variant appeared the CDC was already issuing new guidance (July 2021).
