Monday's VO2-max hill repeats were about 3:45 each, 10 seconds slower than a year ago. Still, a good workout.
Friday's heat and humidity kicked my butt, and my planned 3 x 2-mile LT workout became 2-2-1. Paces were 6:59/mi, 7:32/mi, 7:11. A year ago, I ran the full workout at 6:35/mi.
8:20-pace for Tuesday's 12-miler was a good effort at this point. By comparison, however, I ran 6:58 pace for the same loop last year.
With just two weeks to my goal race, it doesn't appear likely I'll be ready to defend my title. But I'm not giving up just yet!
lucKY -- Thanks for that info. I tried some backwards running last year, but may have overdone it. Like 100m x three or so. In recent weeks, Ibuprofen has been getting me through my workouts. A brief routine on the Nautilus machines helps, but my knees are in bad shape. I need to get back to the full set of prescribed stretching and strength exercises.
