Unfortunate that a mod felt the need to delete my post bumping this thread but Russel Wilson just announced his retirement. It’s a sad day for the football world and I wanted to revive this thread to recognize his greatness.

Was it really necessary for him to announce it?
When you can't beat out Stidham, Nix, Rodgers, Dart, Winston or Smith for the starting job, this announcement wasn't really necessary.
At least he has all those Pro Bowls, the same award that Shedeur Sanders received last year.
For die hard 3 fans like myself I am happy he announced it. My only wish is that I’m able to attend his hall of fame induction.
He left us with one of the greatest QB careers ever.
All his numbers better than most.
And the ONLY QB to rush for over 5500 yards and pass for over 46,500yards.
Yep, only member of that club.
Few QB's having more than his 10 pro bowls.
And he has something Hall of Famers Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Fran Tarkenton, Jim Kelly, Dan Fouts and current greats Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson don't have, a Superbowl win.
The best of the running QB's.
That's a wrap, no won't be saying anymore about this, he was what I said he was......great.
Adios~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Neigh!
Russell Wilson was a very effective and top 10 QB for about 6 seasons. No question about it. His mobility and escapability were a huge part of his success. Once that diminished, he was a below average QB. But as a 3rd round pick (75th overall), he was a steal, and worthy of a 1st round pick. But his last few seasons were not good, and he was not a great teammate overall, a bit too much of the prima donna in him.
Hell of a retirement plan

He left us with an embarrassing list of mediocre QB's he couldn't beat out for the starting job. Add to that his claim to fame of being a Pro Bowler, the same award won by Shedeur Sanders, and I'll never remember what he did before this sad multi-year descent into embarrassment.
Imagine having your career ended by Geno Smith.
This is Russell Wilson's legacy.
Russell Wilson ranks below Terry Bradshaw on Hall of Fame metrics.

5 of which he only got in because other QB's dropped out.
Half of his Pro Bowl's were participation awards.
