"didn't do a great job on therapeutics." Let me state that the way it really was. WE DID A HORRIFICALLY BAD JOB ON THERAPEUTICS. Early therapeutics were ridiculed or banned. Doctors who attempted to talk about their successes were censored or fired. Pfizer used their advertising clout to stifle media coverage and buy the support of doctors, universities and hospitals with grant money. The goal was to get EUA and if that required suppressing research into therapeutics to fast track the EUA for the vaccine... well, you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette.

Hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin are zinc ionophores so they need to be tested with supplemental zinc and given early after diagnosis. Vitamin D is an antiviral AND an immune system modulator. Megadoses of vitamin C (sometimes IV or with supplemental zinc) have been effective against influenza and doctors who have used IV C say it works for covid. Does it? We'll never know. It's not been tested as an early treatment. In fact, almost all the "no benefit" research has these treatments being given AFTER the patient has been admitted to the hospital. By then, the best window for early treatment to avoid hospitalization in the first place has been missed.

 Doctors should have been encouraged (or at a minimum, not prevented from) field testing these promising therapeutics as early treatments for covid. AND encouraged to report their findings so they could be shared with other doctors. The more promising therapeutics should have been fast tracked and funded for more formal research.

This approach was not only NOT used. It was censored and ridiculed. Worse, it is STILL censored and ridiculed today.

Would it have resulted in finding one or more effective therapeutics? Maybe. Maybe not. But doctors weren't even allowed to try.

Fisky man. We ran some of the largest drug repurposing studies EVER. See: RECOVERY and TOGETHER trials. 

We found some good stuff! Dexamethsone, fluvoxamine, remdesivir, etc. 

the other stuff didn’t work. You can come up with a biochemical mechanism for virtually any drug and any disease combo. A plausible mechanism doesn’t mean you have to keep testing until it works. Most mechanisms are BS.
