The only reason left for america to feign any concern in this war is for the west to continue to throw donated arms at it, forcing average americans to subsidize the rich americans profiting. All these arms will need replacing in future military budgets and that's where average americans come in (socialize the risk / privatize the profits). and the replacing of those donated arms will be WEAPONS SALES to those companies top rank and file, NOT to those companies lower paid workers. They will get no pay raise after american tax payers are forced to prop up these arms manufacturers with huge earnings.
So, it's over really. The big gains are from gas and those contracts for the future. Those will last decades. While arms donations that force average americans to move their money upwards to rich americans for weapons replenishment, will end when this war ends. There's is very little profit from the tax-payers-for-weapons scam but the gas contracts will go on for a long time.
