Quit almost two years ago with the help of a long vipassana meditation retreat. Very happy I stopped. Alcohol hijacks your ability to have fun. You think you need it to have fun, but you don't and you actually become disgusting. Social occasions are so much nicer when you are sharp and are mindful of what you are doing. You get the same rushes you get from alcohol if you push yourself out of your comfort zone while sober and do the things you really want to do. Much more fit also without. Can't believe I wasted so much time, opportunities and health with that poison.
