My main point was that height has little to do with someone’s ability to handle heat. And I’m not sure there is a ceiling. Usain Bolt proved that in sprints. We don’t see tall distance females because we are pushed into other events and sports. Just like men. Just because you don’t see tall female distance runners does not mean they are not capable of competing at the elite level. There just aren’t that many who try. It will certainly be interesting.

Height in track and field is a bell curve. Look that up. The shortest runners are in the 60/100 and the marathon. Tallest are in the 400/800. (Obviously only talking about track and not field events). Body size (height) is directly correlated to how someone handles the heat especially over long distances like marathon. Ex: Paula Radcliffe. She was excellent in the cold, struggled in the heat always.
Usain Bolt is a massive outlier. Just like there are outliers in everything. I also enjoy how you compare the 100m to the marathon, LOL. You sound like Average Joe Sports Fan.
Female track athletes are also some of the best paid (female) pro athletes in all of sports (competing alongside men determines this). Tennis is the other best paid female sport (also compete alongside men). WNBA salary cap is 99k....

So, guys...I don't think Gwen is actually 5' 10". She's more like 5' 8", maybe 5' 7" or 5' 9". I've never actually stood back-to-back with her, but I'm 5' 10" on the nose and Gwen is definitely shorter than I am.
And I don't think she's 126 lbs either -- the woman is *tiny*. For sure she's strong, and has long arms, but she's got narrow shoulders and a marathoner's build. You know, sometimes people's listed height/weight are inaccurate.

She's 5' 10".
She could do a year of marathon training and see where she is and still have time to switch back to triathlon which she would own. I think she has the option to go back if she is not where she needs to be in a year.
Nicola Spirig who was the London triathlon former gold medalist took almost 3 years out of tri and came back to silver in Rio.
Jorgenson right now can out run any women ITU triathlete, that was her signature.
Womens ITU triathlon will be more interesting without her, but you can still root for Flora Duffy who wins accross numerous formats such as XTerra.
