I know, but isn't that just a linguistic matter where the "p" disappears when spoken with a similar consonant? Like there can be Jeplagat, but sometimes Jelagat. It is confusing for the birth prefix to be spelled so many different ways.
What does it mean? I would guess "born to beat Rudisha."

Bad Wigins, don't be confused with Kalenjin names. Kalenjins are at least seven if not more tribes infused into one. Each of the sub-tribes, if you wish, have their names spelled in a specific unique way for the purpose of avoiding confusion. Though with the same meaning, the names Kiplagat and Kiplangat implies two individuals from two different Kalenjin sub-tribes. Kiplagat is a Nandi(from Nandi/ Uasin Gishu/Eldoret) while Kiplangat is a Kipsigis(mostly from Kericho/Bomet). There is no name like Jeplangat or Jeplagat. Instead Chelagat, Jelagat or Chelangat.
About Kitilit, the name, similar to Matarit, means cut someone's ears off!!! Very dangerous like Simon Peter, one of Jesus' disciples who cut someone's ear off when Jesus was being arrested! The name doesn't come in different versions but only as Kitilit whether Nandi, Kipsigis, Tugen, Sabaot, Pokot, Keiyo or Marakwet.
