Have you ever watched a marathon before? The Africans always surge before a fuel station to get a clean grab before bringing the pace back down

Thank you.
All 3 are hugging the dashed line taking the tangents perfectly.

The Americans all look okay right now
I like the race Desi is running. When they speed up, she falls back. When they slow down, she catches up. It certainly won't get her a gold medal, but I think she'll pick up carnage in the later part of the race. I'd say she has a shot a bronze.
DESI BACK TO THE FRONT!!!

Desi falls about 3-5 seconds back every time she gets her drink. Then pulls even again.
Desi leading. All 3 usa in top 11
So the US is benefitting from their presumed better education as they are running the tangents whereas the rest of the leaders aren't. I always hated Geometry but have finally found a use for it - a straiht line is the shortest distance between two points.
73/64 dew point f in rio right now. Ok running weather. This should not slow an elite athlete more than 5-10 secs a mile
AND NOW TO GOLF! this is such a joke
I don't know which American to Cheer for
No problem! :)
Looks like Desi is maintaining contact this time instead of trying to play catch up like in the trials (I was there!)
Really proud of the Americans. Hard to believe how much they're drinking. Desi is running even splits. That's why she seems to be falling off.
Kenyans and Ethiopians appear to be surging like crazy and running all over the course left right left......
Crazy to be running like that at this level
Watching the NBC online stream is awesome.
Interesting to see the difference between the American ladies running the tangents and the African countries. Also big difference between the number of times they are taking fluids and how much they drink. Americans seem to be permanently carrying bottles.
commentators are blaming desi for yo-yoing. But is it her fault or the other leaders? I think it's the other leaders. Desi is prop running even splits., no?
are there pockets of US fans on the course? Are Kevin and Jerry out there?
Tigist TUFA IS DONE
The british commentators on the online stream make it seem like Desi is clawing herself back to the lead pack by the skin of her teeth. Clearly though she is just running a smart, even paced race.
