As for why the Beatles are overrated, very good songwriters, granted, but mediocre instrument players. However, they got the very most out of what they had because of the songwriting and chemistry between band members.
Similar comments for Pink Floyd as for the Beatles, other than David Gilmour who is a better guitar player than average, though not great. Roger Waters was their songwriting engine. Once he left the band, they were never the same. However, he was never the same after leaving, either. It was the chemistry between the members and what the others added to Waters' songwriting that made everything gel. The remaining Floyd has been resting on its laurels for 25 years now.
Roger Waters left the band over 30 years ago. I agree with the rest of what you wrote about PF

I admit ACDC sounds a little white trashy, simple even, they're one of the hardest rocking bands ever if that's your thing. they've were pretty darn successful thru the 70's 80's and 90's and managed to have quite a few hits over the decades, a lot of their songs still get me pumped up sometimes, Angus is and his bro Brian came up with some pretty sick riffs and solos in my opinion.
Dylan's voice must be an acquired taste. I think it's great, but I also like the old Mississippi blues singers like Bukka White, Robert Wilkins, Mississippi John Hurt, Skip James, Tommy Johnson, etc.
I just prefer voices with an edge. I get bored with most of the smooth commercial voices (Johnny Mathis, etc.) There are exceptions... Roy Orbison for example. Everyone has different tastes.
Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt are my personal favorites.
And: Derek and the Dominoes may have only been together for a year and released just one album, but it was great.
Kanye West.
But he's also the most underrated.
And also the best of all time.
