I did see a Native American group of runners at the Media center on Friday. I have no idea if they were with Billy Mills.
As for the Kim Smith tweets, we said PR agencies often do the tweeting for athletes. They often don't know what is going on when things change last second.

I spoke with Smith's new husband Pat Tarpy and her training partner - Amy Hastings - at Rosie O'grady's Friday night when the race was 'cancelled' and they said she was really fit. On the teleconference, smith had also said the $100k for that half marathon was always just a bonus - her goal was always NYC.
I guess they were all telling the truth. I thought some of it might be boastful talk at a watering hole.
Can anyone else on the course with a phoen tell us where the American women are? The guy on the bike is only staying with the lead women now as if he drops back, he can't catch up?

Just saw Tom Fleming run by. He has the NYMarathon in park record and is out here to defend it. Bill Rodgers told me he is going to pace Tom to 30KM at 2:08 pace. They are in a pack of 7 or 8 about 20 to 25 secs off the lead group, Looks like M. Phillipe, Mark Belger and Amby Burfoot along in the pack. I did not get a good look but someone said A. Webb is running in a Team in Traing shirt.

Kipsang and Meb are flying 14:20 from 35k to 40k.
1:57:50 this is a battle for the ages. Everyone else is at least a minute back.
If they keep that up they'll be close to 2:04. I think a little over. Figure they have to slow a little. No way they can keep this up. Hopefully this last 1.2 miles they keep up a better feed.

Meb just flew by me in the park. Less than a mile from the finish. They look great. Couldn't tell who was going to win.
