What do you mean? It's a compliment. The "ridiculously good-looking" part is from Zoolander. I'm just stating that they make a beautiful couple. Are you jealous of them or something?

I doubt he's keeping up with any of those guys in workouts.
I don't know, after reading his old training log I wouldn't be so sure of that. He hasn't raced in their league, but Cox is definitely a workout warrior.
Katie Holmes look alike? So, that means she's plain-looking and not ugly.

"Something", then. Why so presumptuous still? I know, it's a flaw of youth.

Welcome to letsrun. You must be new here.
If this all true, Josh should go through standard due process like I did and everyone else by finding a fast marathon course and hope to hit a qualfier that's at or under 2.22 and not wasting his time petioning. You do not see P Diddy petitioning the Olymipic Marathon Trials after he ran the New York for charity.
Sorry for the typo, I meant the New york Marathon

You will be declared persona non grata by the NYRR unless you immediately ammend that to ING New York City Marathon.

Word on the street is that Ryan Hall has joined Dan Brown, Meb, and Josh Cox in Mammoth Lakes. Sounds like a fun training group.
Oh...there is also a rumor that Josh got engaged to his Katie Holmes look-alike girlfriend recently.
Bingo...
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/health/fitness/20070831-9999-1s31cox.htmlAnybody else think St. George is an odd choice for him to pursue a qualifier? I know it's downhill, which makes running fast easier, but it also beats up your legs more which could be a big factor when the Trials are just 4 weeks later. I could see somebody who thinks on their best day with everything perfect they might run 2:21:59 heading to a downhill course like St. George. However, especially if he thinks he can compete at the Trials, should be able to run sub-2:22 in his sleep, and I would think he would want to do so as easily as possible. Seems like Chicago would be a better choice. Anyway, I hope he gets the standard, recovers quickly, and then runs his best in NY. Wonder if any other potential last-minute Trials qualifiers will be at St. George? I know Chicago is gonna be loaded with them.

To me, it says that Josh isn't confident that he can run under 2:22 on a record-quality course. He is probably just trying to qualify for the Trials for reasons other than to try to make the U.S. Olympic team. I'm guessing that there's a promotional or sponsorship angle to this.
Rereading my last post, I realize that I shouldn't have said that Josh "is probably just trying to qualify for the Trials for reasons other than to try to make the U.S. Olympic team." He may very well believe that he has a shot at making the team. In the past, he has said that he believed that he was capable of running 2:08 or 2:09, and I don't question his sincerity about that.
Closest race to home? Altitude/still a workout? I agree that sponsorship might be a factor - "U.S. Olympic hopeful... "
Last year at St. George a guy ran 2:22:04. Do you let him in? USATF has already listed 2 guys at 2:22:02.

One did it at Boston this year and under those conditions deserves to be in the trials. The other had a chip time under 2:22, and a gun time of 2:22:01.
Good call. Thanks for the clarification, so 2:22:04, yes or no?
No, unless he had to stop in the middle of the race to save a baby from a burning building or something.
Josh got his qualifier yesterday at the USAF marathon in Ohio. He won in 2:20 with a solo effort.
