I want to meet the OP in 20 years and see how much weight he's gained. LOL
It's easy to take it for granted when you're in your 20's or early 30's, but age is just inevitable. Some people manage better than others, but it's still inevitable. The point is you may not get to choose. Just a few examples:
- Bill Rodgers said when he was in his 40's or 50's he needed 2 easy days after a workout instead of just 1.
- One of the best all-around athletes on my HS track team has had both knees replaced since he turned 50. This was after years of working out and a couple of Ironmans. He didn't do anything wrong - it was just genetics. He still works out as much as he can, but nowhere near as much as he would like to and there are some things he just can't do period.
- Other friends have had hip surgeries, achilles injuries, osteoarthritis (that's the genetic kind), etc.
And that's before you get to questions of work commitments, travel, kids, etc. And BTW, if you ever put your fitness routine and "looking good" before your kids (homework, sports games, just hanging with them), then you're a selfish a-hole.
Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts!
