Firstly 8.07.04 is an incredible time, but I felt she didn't look super comfortable after even 1200m and with 600 to go I wondered if she would even break 8.10 For a 1500m runner that 1000m from 1600-2600m is always the toughest - if you can get to 400 to go you always feel like you can just grind out a good finish using your anaerobic power.
Considering that is her first real attempt at time trialling the distance, that was really good. The question is how badly does she want the record - the women seem to run the 3000m even less then the men do. El G put it out there in 99 and even though he got as close as anyone did for 25+ years, he was kind of like "yeah no thanks" to going after it again.
Feel like a good over/under here for Chebet is 3:55flat. Definitely expecting the under, something like a 3:53high-3:54low? Earlier this year I thought 3:55-56was her ceiling, but revising it down…

Yeah idk about her pacing here, she really floored it that last lap.
I agree with whomever said maybe in cooler conditions, it’s nice and toasty right now. Great sprint weather!
just checked to make sure im not crazy. HJ and PV do in fact have their own feeds. Why can't we get a dedicated track feed?
Honestly the Diamond League world feed is "field and track" and this is one reason why schemes like Grand Slam keep popping up, because they know in theory it can be done better for actual fans of running. Not that Grand Slam figured it out...

Her best performance (purely time wise) ever I think.
When Wang ran a 29:31 10k record earlier that week she covered the final 3k in 8:17 after going through 5k in well over 15 mins. She was capable of WELL under 29.
And when she ran 3:51 a few days later she went opened with a 58 second lap behind a too fast pacer. Capable of sub 3:50 most likely.
Even in the 3k she split 2:42/2:47 before closing in an insane 2:36 (2:04 final 800) indicating close to 8:00 potential.
World athletics needs to get rid of 47.6, 1:53, and 8:06
and the 100, 200, 1500,5000,half,marathon, throws, and hurdles.
women are hyper responders ..... that's all the "records" are about, how male you can make a female, and the organisms response to PEDs to emulate testes and male genetics..
all are mega visual and time progression ultra red flags, coupled with known PED coaching and regime.

i understand that, but cutting in during a 3000 wr attempt on meaningless jumps is unacceptable.
