blame nike for this loss. several WR were set with the victory 2, but those were time trial runs. in sprint finish races, you need aggressive spikes and the 4 spikes on the victory 2 just isn't it. you need 6
You are even better, since you haven't lost a single race over the distance this season. Not losing is great. Now let's see about winning this season: Jakob: Oslo 3:29.74 European Championships: 3:31.95 Norwegian Championships: 3:34.03 Monaco: 3:26.73 Lausanne: 3:27.83 Let's compare with Kerr:
----------------- Impressive list for Kerr. At least for our Armloser.
You guys are desperate to throw statistics at a wall to try to argue the superiority of a runner who consistently fails at championship level in his main event. When his career is over, who cares about what he does at DL and what the margins of victory are, unless he breaks the world record - which he hasn't at any championship distance.
In previous generations the best 1500/milers were the Olympic champions and world record-holders over the distance. They dominated their peers, and they didn't consistently lose championship finals and the big races. Standards appear to have fallen.
Did you forget that El G lost the Olympics twice before he won??
El G doesn't have the same record for losing that Ingebrigtsen has. Quite apart from his world records over the 1500 and mile, which still stand, El G amassed a bunch of WC 1500 titles. Ingebrigtsen has none. El G dominated his event in a way Ingebrigtsen has failed to do.
Remind us what their lifetime head to head record is over the 1500?
Running isn't a h2h sport, like boxing, but a sport in which an athlete beats a field and in which the measure is championship titles. Ingebrigtsen has been consistently losing to "the next guy" for the last 3 years.

El G won his first Worlds gold when he was 23, before that he finished 12th at the Olympics and second at Worlds. Is that better than what Jakob has accomplished up until today? Can you at least try to put some effort into your trolling?

I've tried asking Armstrong who he thinks had a better championship record when they were 23 than Jakob, but for some reason I don't get any actual response. Wonder why.
It is irrelevant. His age has nothing to do with it. It is what titles does he have and what records. No championship records and no wc titles over the 1500 and 4th defending his Olympic title. He's becoming "the next guy".

You will never get an answer to this question. He is not interested in any serious discussion - never. If he has made a statement to which ever subject - he will defend this point until death. Regardless how stupid it is. How overwhelming the arguments against it maight be. He will never ever admit that he was wrong. It's some mental issue.
The "mental" issue is all yours and of those who agree with you. You cannot accept anything that doesn't accord with your tedious "fandom'.

Yes, his age has very much to do with what he has accomplished over a short career compared to other runners with longer careers. I'll ask you again, which runner in history has had a better 1500 career by age 23 than Jakob? It's an easy question, why are you avoiding it?

Which runners from “previous generations” are you alluding to in particular? “They” lacks specificity.
Runners such as Elliott, Snell (who I already gave as examples), Ryun, Walker, Coe, Cram and El G. World record holders over their speciality distance and clearly dominant at their peaks.

The comparison is career accomplishments not age accomplishments, at which El G still clearly exceeds Ingebrigtsen. Ingebrigtsen's age is irrelevant and not a measure of what he has done and the same applies to El G. The partiality of your arguments to favour your fatuous adoration of Ingebrigtsen is ultimately a form of idiocy.

Neither me or anybody else has claimed that Jakob is better than El G over their careers, but that since no other 1500 runner in history has had a better career than Jakob at his current age, he's still on track to becoming the best 1500 runner ever.
Is it really such a difficult concept to understand that you need to have it spelled out for you?

His age is irrelevant. It is only what he has accomplished that counts. You think it is an "easy question" - it is a stupid question. Ryun was a much better runner at 19 and 20 in his era than Ingebrigtsen was - he was a multiple world record-holder in championship events - and so was Elliott at 22. But no one awards prizes or accolades for age accomplishments in elite and championship competition. It isn't juniors. It is solely what was won and what records were broken.

No one is "on track" to accomplish anything in sports. No career can be anticipated for what might actually happen. Look at the sensation that was Athing Mu, who has suddenly fallen right out of the picture. Your obsession with Ingebrigtsen's age shows that you try to inflate his achievements by an irrelevant measure because you can't do it by pointing to actual championship titles for the 1500 and world records in championship events. Added to that is he now loses more often than not to "the next guy".

I'm not inflating anything. Jakob is the best currently active 1500 runner in his worst event, has had the best career at age 23 compared to every other 1500 runner in history and can still become the best 1500 runner ever because he has time on his side, but he most likely won't because he's going to focus on the events where he's better.
When Jakobs career is over, they're going to see a person who at the very least won the Olympic gold, two worlds silvers and ran 3:26 in his worst event and somehow managed to outperform that in the events where he's better.
Do you think the first thing people notice about Mo Farahs career is that he never won a medal in the 1500?

ElG was a 1500m runner. Ingebrigsten is not. He moves down in distance.

Farah was never a 1500 runner; Ingebrigtsen is. You have become ridiculous. But that is Ingebrigtsen fandom.

Very simple.
Ingebrigtsen has always been a 1500 runner. It has been his main championship distance. He's just not that good at it.
