Yes, McLaughlin has her easily this year again, unless there is a big reason for this (eg in heavy training). Absolutely nothing for SM to worry about based on this.
Boring discussion. 2021 was Covid. Spikes definitely different from before Covid. I don’t think it’s a sudden ‘talent boom’, but maybe you are correct.

Superspikes emerged in 2019…I didn’t say sudden talent boom but it has happened over the last few years. Lost very few guys from the fold in 2021 (Centro, Souleiman, Filip), but gained Nordas, Nuguse, Mario, Reynold, Gourley, Laros, Habz and Nader. All at least pretty young.

Gourley took a huge jump last year, but fine. Other 2 I didn’t list. McSweyn was behind those 2 in 2021 too. What changed is the depth at the level around/slightly ahead of Stewie.
Nice PB for Samuel Firewu at 8:05.78. Beamish @ 8:14.7 can be construed as disappointing, but it’s only a second off his PB and some may have been getting ahead of themselves thinking he could run a massive PB in his first steeple of the year. Bor went for it and faded to 8:15, but he definitely looks like a virtual lock for the U.S. team.
This is fair but can Geordie just compete? A 14.4 last 100 is silly in a race where if you stretch out that effort over the last 600 more evenly maybe you run 8:11-12.
Fascinating 800 coming up. No Arop or Wanyonyi but a few guys looking to prove they can contend with the top 2 + Wightman and Giles stepping down. Thinking it'll be Sedjati but would be huge if Hoppel could get it
