Yes. The quality is very good and continues to get better. People have been pulling out this "quality" trope for years now and it has never hurt Tesla. Publications like WSJ and Forbes love to take pot shots at Tesla but it never hurts sales.
Watch the YouTube videos from Sandy Munro. They are now in the process of doing a teardown and evaluation of the newest iteration of the Tesla Model Y. This car from Tesla's newest factory in Texas is built in three pieces. It has a gigacasting in front, a gigacasting in the rear, and a structural battery pack in the middle. Plus, it has a new type of battery cell, the 4680.
I'm sure all this doesn't mean much to the average person on this thread. But it is a revolutionary way to build a car. This replaces hundreds of small parts with a few large ones.
What you end up with is a lighter vehicle that can be assembled faster and cheaper. Fewer parts means less things can go wrong. It means panel gaps are more precise. Because it is lighter, you get more range per kWh. Or you can use fewer costly batteries to get the same range.
It means massive speed and profit that the other automakers can't begin to match. Anyone who says the legacy automakers know more about manufacturing doesn't understand what is actually happening. The legacy automakers are desperately trying to catch up with what Tesla is doing.
