Jean's Marines: What a crock

Jeansmarines don't seem to be a charity organization. I don't see any where on their website where it says that they raise money for charity. They shouldn't even be lumped into the charity group; its not fair to the real charity groups. All jeansmarines do is charge a lot of money to join and then encourage overweight, undertrained women to cheat.

They really don't buy that much gear when you think about it. One pair of shoes is all they need due to low mileage and short build up. One pair of shorts and thats about it, oh and 47 gu belts but the shoe companies don't benifit from those sales.

Have you ever worked at a running store? These people buy a new pair of shoes any time something hurts. They also don't believe it's physically possible to run in anything but microfibres, so they buy 4-5 running outfits. Accessories, of course, are where they're completely fleeced. If they can't carry everything they have in their bedroom, then it's all over.

Spend some time at a running store or even read the posts on a message board for "common folk", especially a Canadian board, and you'll see how easily and how badly these people are fleeced.

Too true. I used to work at a running store in Bryn Mawr PA. Despite all the elite/semi-elite people in the area, the vast majority of money spent in the store was spent by people who either didn't run at all or were "just starting to train for a marathon." People who lived in the area and actually ran seriously (and actually ventured out in weather that might warrant some microfiber) generally just bought shoes. People "just getting started" would come in and buy whole ensembles, including, in one notable instance, several different pairs of shoes for different "moods."

Money spent on gear vs. miles actually run is definitely a negative correlation.

I wonder what marathon Jean will poison next. And will she change her gruop's name? Maybe they could train for the Flying Pig Marathon in Cinncinati and call themselves Jean's Pigs.

I hope like Hell this stuff got around to all of the 'thon directors. I'll have to ask my fitness coach, who serves as associate RD of our local 'thon... Jean's Cheaters could become the persona non grata of the 'thon world.

Yes as a matter of fact I have worked at a running store and have seen these guys come in and say "I want to buy one pair of shoes that will last me from now til I run my marathon." Or bring a pair of totally trashed shoes in and say I got these about a year ago but I don't run that much will they get me through the marathon?" So you're still wrong.

I just read about these Cheaters in Running Times. I have one word to describe this group. SCUM !!!!!!!!!!

That's the customers I want!Not some tight ass weenie who needs 3 1/2" spikes for his xc shoes,and wants sponsorship from my store because he broke 26 for 8k.

The fat asses and fadists pay my bills,my houses and my boat and holidays.

Overall, the fat asses are better in the sack than the runners, and fitness bunnies.
