Japan has stupid cheap, amazing universal healthcare (no deductible / $56 a month / 30% copay but on prices so cheap because they are set by the government). Nobody flinches about going to the hospital for ANYTHING. It is so cheap and easy.
In Tokyo there are thousands and thousands of apartments for $400 - 600 a month (17-30 meters square). We have a vacation apartment in Chigasaki so I can ride and run along the coast. It's $330 a month and 300 meters from the beach with a huge loft.
food is cheap and amazing

Trains (commutes) are paid for by employers. People only pay for their free time trips.
